Any news when DVC members can get an annual pass???

I really don't think that DVC is against giving a ticket discount to members, why would they? People are complaining to the wrong division.

The question came up at the annual meeting and they claimed DVC is trying to get it. As of 9/2021, there is no discount on Incredipass for anyone. Eligible Out of State DVC could get the Sorcerer AP, otherwise only available to Florida Residents, not really a discount. The real issue is allowing new AP sales. I don’t buy the ”wrong division” reason. Both DVC and Parks report to Josh D’Amaro. That’s where the holdup is.

This is where my emails have gone over the past few years with the pause because DPEP is the one who ultimately gets to decide what happens, not those running DVD.

We stayed at our DVC resorts over Christmas break on points. Didn't go in the parks and went to Universal instead. It was eye opening! The parks were clean, staff courteous, and we actually had a good time. We rode the monorail, went to some of the Disney resorts for dining and Disney Springs too. Besides our DVC resorts and their pools, that was the extent of the Disney part of our trip. What I really liked about Universal is that it was just so chill. Not constantly on my phone for Genie+ or LL. The vibe was chill with the guest as well. No people rushing from ride to ride and my toes were never run over by a mom running with a stroller from one end of the park to the other. The kids play areas in Universal were actually pretty cool too, although they are demolishing them shortly. Thrill rides were top notch and I really like their locker system for your valuables.

Only setback was fighting the I-4 traffic, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

So unless Disney changes their ways (lowers APs to a reasonable dollar amount, brings back some sort of FP+, allows discounted APs for DVC, brings back some form of Magical Express, etc.), we will continue with this M.O.

Recommend you do this approach if you have to use up your points. Oh, and by the way, Universal's AP for two parks is around $500. Way less than what Disney is currently charging, even if you factor in 4 parks vice 2.

We stayed there last year and thought the Portofino Bay was very nice. The transporation is great and it's a 15 minute walk if you don't want to wait for the boat. I'd suggest renting out your DVC points and trying to stay at one of the Premier resorts, which included there express pass and a much-better-than-expected text-based concierge service. Give up the I-4 complaint. We really enjoyed it.

We just spent three weeks at WDW with no park passes and it was GREAT! There was no pressure to be anywhere and we found plenty to do without leaving WDW property. We drove down and didn't use the car during our time at WDW, that made DH very happy. There is life outside the parks.

Now don't get me wrong, if they ever do decide to give DVC the ability to buy new annual passes with a discount, I will consider buying them again. However, I now know that I can be perfectly happy on site without the parks. That makes me happy.

While I agree that there is a lot to do on property outside of the parks, I don’t think there is enough for 3 weeks and not get bored. I’ve done 1 week like that and it was relaxing and a nice way to enjoy property, but Epcot was calling HARD by the end of that week. One more day and I think I would have given in.

I think it's fine to give into the urge. Last 2 trips has been 4 days long but 1 park which was EP both times. I don't think I could come down for any longer without having at least one park day mixed in. Without AP's out trips are shorter and more strategic on what we want to do.

We've been doing this as well on a smaller scale for the past few years actually, for various reasons. We've turned our Disney park vacations into more laid back 4-5 day resort-based vacations. We were surprised at how much there is to do outside of the parks. We also started driving in 2020 but even so found ourselves not using our car much while on property. Seems perhaps a bit counterintuitive to think "relaxing" is a word that can be used to describe a Disney vacation.

We will most likely go back into the parks at some point in the near future. Personally I don't anticipate that APs will return anytime soon because of current park crowd levels but that probably wouldn't stop us from going. But I would be curious to see how many DVC vacations over the past several years have not involved the theme parks and if that has trended in a particular direction.

Wow. This is just a crazy outcome. I really thought they would have released APs for a day or two by now. Maybe this is the new normal?

Have you called member services? I was able to talk my way into getting our son an AP, when he didn't have one and the rest of us did.

Its not like there is a new policy in place or anything. I mean it was A LOT of talking and transferring between departments. They have the power but you have to talk the right people into it(and we don't really know who that is). Im sure a lot of luck was involved as well.

Not that same thing, but when I went to activate my renewed AP, they asked if I wanted to pay another $150 and make it a new AP with new starting date (that day , not the 6 months earlier date). One or two other people here have gotten the same thing happen, so asking to purchase for spouse may not be so hopeless.

They always have had a policy to allow an AP for a child that has grown up over 3yo and needing now a ticket to enter the parks. So maybe they just stretched that a bit.

May I ask how old your son is? I'm curious how far they are willing to stretch?

Not being able to get an AP is one of the primary issues holding me back from my first DVC purchase. Totally with you on the frustration!

To think about: Even if APs are available when you purchase DVC, there is zero guarantee that ongoing purchase grandfathering for future APs will always be available, or that ANY APs will continue to be offered.

Does someone have confirmation of a statement from DVC management on sales of APs ?
That would be interesting.

Assuming there is none, DVC purchasers of any status logically come to this forum to express opinions (Disney Vacation Club: DVC Mousellaneous)

If it spoils the pixie dust for some, as it understandably might, they might consider scrolling on by.
Or visit other threads. There are so many to choose from.

Their actions say otherwise. There hasn't been a discount since Covid. They couldn't even pony up $100 on the Incredipass when it was for sale for a few weeks.

If DVC wanted to give ticket discounts, it could. It has chosen not to.
