Okay - pics, do I post here in the thread or is there another location for pics? Below is my review of the Mickey's Halloween Treat. You should know that Halloween is my favorite holiday! So this was spectacular for me and the first Halloween thing I've done since Morgan was born in October of 2004. Highly impressive, still some kinks to work out but everything in DL for Halloween couldn't have been more perfect for me. Feel free to ask questions!
We went to the event on Oct. 22. We were greeted nicely and given the treat bags with some literature/ads in them. We each got one and the CM stopped Morgan to see her costume. As we entered we were approached by another CM who asked for our e-mail address as
Disneyland was doing surveys and wanted to have reviews from people who attended. I gave them ours and did a survey shortly after our return.
The place is decorated amazingly well. Great lights, great band as you walk in and dancing with characters - Daisy and a Witch were there when we walked in and we saw a few others as well. Lots of kids playing and dancing.
There were treat stations everywhere! Not all completely toddler friendly candy, so it had to be checked, but still nice quality. Most CMs gave good quantities as well. A few gave out only one or two pieces. One station gave us candy and apple slices. Had heard they were trying to do more healthy treats. This was the only one that had healthy treats on our trip.
Not all of the rides were open. Definitely not a lot of toddler friendly rides open - Bugs Land was completely closed down as far as rides go. The carousel was the only one we found she could go on and she did that many times - green fish only.
Not many eating places open either - lots of snacks and cotton candy vendors - not much healthy and only one "dinner" sort of place at the very front. You really should eat before you go unless you want your kids eating candy all night.
Morgan really liked it and I think every kid we saw was having fun. At the end as we were heading out she even got down and danced with the witch and Daisy duck (who were still there.) They do the mararena at several restaurants in DL and at this event - and add the Tiki Room song to it.
They apparently have a villain scream fest, which we didn't do. Not really a good toddler friendly activity, although I'd have personally loved it!
The hours, 7:30pm to 11:30pm, were a little late for most kids. I'd like to see them start it earlier. We didn't see too many teens, lots of adults and lots of families. The event also sold out again this year - they even added an extra day and that sold out as well. This is still new and the talk was about moving the price up to $25 per ticket - also one question in their survey that they asked repeatedly.
Overall - totally fun, we'll go again, and I HIGHLY recommend it! Next year could be completely different though.
