Any news on Castaway Cay? Please post here if you hear anything

Yup high tide very early in the morning
\\

I believe this image is more than just the regular full moon tide.

I've never seen the Cabana lagoon that high. IOW. High Cabana #'s. Sand bar so low.

Some of the recent images show the break wall compromised / rock wall/jetty section significantly reduced in height. IMO. eek
Did anyone else notice the rock break wall deterioration? ? ? About midway?

I've never seen the Cabana lagoon that high, even when normal storms control the Cay.

I will admit that rumors abound in my circle that "they" want to dredge / open up the cabana lagoon.
That was years ago though. So .... Afterwards, same old shallow lagoon. But with guard.

Perhaps they already started. ??? Perhaps this recent sand displacement will make them start? ? ? ?
Perhaps Matthew may help solidify long term DCL plans. Perhaps hurricane redistribution is a long term scheduled plan of DCL.
Why would it not be a plan of DCL? They know it will happen. They know where the sand will move.
It should be expected given the 10 year plan of storms.

Perhaps it's all a blip and it all means nothing.

It's great to speculate and bloviate though.

Thanks for listening.

Rant over.

The image referenced;

This jetty has always been perfectly formed for the entire distance.

It almost looks breached, does it not? ? ?

Will now search for pre Matthew images.

Perhaps the sea wall always had a vulnerable section?

For reference.

Maybe the sea wall has always been thin there? ? ?

Perhaps the sea wall always had a thin spot.

Ok my bad. The jetty was always thin in a section.

I was wrong.

I'm a fool.

Pictures prove a lot.

No hard feelings I hope. lol.

Looking at the jetty we can see why after a hurricane the cabana lagoon may be high tide.
I'm confidant DCL, the Moon, and God, will reset the cabana lagoon to it's original configuration.

:)

Just found this ... [pic] ... looks like there have always been gaps.

Touche'

I have only seen the jetty pulling into port, and the huge jetty at the FB Cabanas.
Both are huge and intimidating.

How would anybody see otherwise? ? ? In the middle. ? ? ?
Could that jetty gap be seen when snorkeling? ? ?

Is the gap seen from the shore? Never noticed prior.
New reason to return. lol.

Just curious.

TIA

Yes, I am going to have a close look on my next visit, too! I would have sworn that it is a continuous barrier as well. One of the reasons why I don't like the family beach, I prefer the open horizon where the sea and the sky touch.

In some of the pictures (including the first one you posted from after the storm) you can see that there is a net installed where there is the gap. I am sure that this is where the lagoon is protected against bad sea life.

We were at CC on Sunday, and other than the last three lengths of catwalk between the dock and the mooring piers being ripped off, there was no other visible damage to the guest areas that we saw. There were, however, large stockpiles of new construction materials and trailers located just outside of the guest areas, so there may have been damage that we couldn't see. Serenity Bay lost most of the sand bar that was there last year (that's a good thing). Even at low tide the water level where the sand bar used to be was up to my knees. Also, there was a lot of sand that made its way into the snorkel/family beach areas, and the teen beach is now huge with new sand and a new tidal pool that wasn't there last year.
