Any new or rumors regarding the new ships??

Our travel agent told us yesterday that river cruising is the fastest-growing segment of the cruising market. Note that Disney has started chartering an AMA ship to cruise the rivers in Europe -- similar to when Disney chartered the Big Red Boat before DCL had their own ships. Wonder how soon it will be before DCL starts building their own river boats.
Sadly, the river cruise industry is booming so much that the rivers (in the popular itineraries) are getting way to busy.

On the other hand, all the problems in Europe are causing many river cruise lines to be losing bookings right now.

That is really interesting about the mock ups and that picture. I couldn't read the caption of it. Could anyone post it? I tried magnifying it but it was blurry.

Also, as to the mock ups. Makes perfect sense. I remember years ago at our local mall they did a full sized mock up of a cabin for Carnival. It was awesome. It was to promote one of their new ships that would sail out of NYC. I loved going in that store and seeing the cabin. It was not a Carnival store but a Travel Accessories store that had a tie in with Carnival.

I really wish there was a video of that talk. You could here a collective wow when he said the drawing numbers and the number of mockups they did. It also explains why the price was so high also for the ships.

What has me excited about the new ships and detail I know will not be seen or reveled until their build is well along is the refinement and technology the ships will have.

Think the Classics to Dream class. There was a significant shift in the subtle and not so subtle use to technology to give Disney Imagineers and ship designers a free hand to have the ships feel Disney yet elude the magic we expect them to deliver. Love it or hate it Animators broke the immersive dining experience and moved to a new level of immersive dining for kids and kids at heart. The dynamic walls of Skyline, Midship Detective Agency, the kids clubs, 3D capable theatres, in-room entertainment (video), the quality of deck video and light shows, connectivity that many see as a given first through wave phones and now the DCL app on-board or with internet connectivity everywhere all upped the ante of what a Disney cruise ship could deliver. The time gap between take 1 (the Classics) and take 2 (Dream Class) is essentially being repeated again between take 2 and 3. We already know in size Disney is not moving back but forward in size and with a 4.5% increase in tonnage or interior volume it will be interesting to see how Disney uses that extra space and for what.

This is so true. I really look forward to seeing the newest technology.
