Any new changes to renting a golf cart from the bike barn?

Hi, read a small artical that may have improvements in renting golf carts. The reason I was asking is that the last time we rented several years ago we had to wait several hours after we arrived to rent the carts. Is this still the same? Kind of hoping they would have them at your site shortly after you arrived rather than getting to the bike barn on a bus. Thanks for any news about this, or what you do to make it less inconvenient.

You no longer rent GC's from the bike barn. A new CG rental center was created to the left of the check-in area. If you've reserved a GC in addition to your Fort ressie, they do everything when you check in.

The Bike Barn rents bikes and canoes.

That is my understanding.

Some people have complained because it makes the check-in process longer for those people that bring their own GC's.

If you're staying in a cabin, it's to your advantage (and to the advantage of those bringing RV's) if you park in the main parking lot & go inside to check in.

Thanks alot. I remember that it took almost a full day to wait for the bike barn to start renting and then to return them took alot of extra time. This would be so much more relaxing to do this!

When I called to make my golf cart ressies, they told me I can pick it up after 1pm the day I get it and drop it off before 11am the day I return it. We didn't get it for the whole 7 day trip because we will be off site a couple of days visiting family in various parts of FL.

Hi, We were just at the Fort at the end of February. We stayed in our RV and cheked in. We told the CM, who checked us in, that we had a reservation for a cart. The CM directed us to the cart area, we filled out the form and we were on our way. I drove the cart with the kids and we followed my husband and the RV to our site. IMHO it was very easy and fast, granted we were the only ones checking in at the time. LOL!!!
Checking out was just as easy. Follow the "golf cart return" signs. Again, no one was there and we were done quiclky!!!!

Now, I am getting a little confused here. I called the bike barn and the message they have is that they are rented there at the bike barn and also I called for recreation and they told me the same thing, that you have to pick up your cart at the bike barn. Maybe this is new and they havent't gotten the new rental area in the system? Or do you sign in for the cart that you reserved and then get it at the bike barn?

No, you will pick it up at the reception area. There are no carts at the bike barn anymore. Must be a glitch in their system with that recording.

What time do they open? We plan on renting a GC for a couple of days when we come down, but on the day we will be returning the GC, we will be leaving early for the parks. Is there a secure drop off location, if they are not open yet when we leave?

The reception outpost desk is open 24/7 and you can return your cart early there. Just bring them your keys, don't drive into the lobby

Thanks Shan, I'll let my DH drive the GC, no promises it wouldn't end up in the lobby if I got behind the wheel that early in the morning.

They have the carts lined up to the right just past the reception outpost, and they have people getting the carts ready each morning. This really makes it easier for those of you renting from Disney...and yes, you get the cart at check in. Have the DW and kids follow you to your site as previously suggested..(or the opposite and have the lovely DW back the camper into the sight..!!)
