Hi everyone,
Still planning our trip for next year. My problem is that my dh has his heart set on a Moderate resort and my mom, who is coming with us, really wants to stay at a value. She wants to have a little more spending $ and she is also paying for my two nieces and step-brother to go.
So... I'm trying to come up with a compromise and I thought I would find out if any Moderate resorts were near any of the Value resort, and if so how far away are they? Not sure yet if we're gonna rent a car, yet.
thanks!

This will be our very first trip to DW!!!

Coronado Springs is the closest on the map I have. About 1 1/4 mile away on the same road.

Not sure that it is walking distance...........but CSR is down the road from All Stars.

Caribbean Beach Resort and Pop Century are right near each other. I've been to CBR when they were building Pop and I saw some of the buildings and huge bowling ball icon.

I don't know if you can walk from one to the other, though. :scratchin Even if you could walk, you'd pretty much have to make sure you were both in buildings at the ends of each resort that are near the other. I don't know how the logistics would work with that...

I think it would be very hard to walk from any moderate to a value (except possibly CBR and POP). There are not sidewalks, and you'd be walking along a 40 mph highway. I'm not sure if the security guards at the entrances would let you do that either???
Without a rental car, you'd most likely have to take a taxi, or take your resort bus to a theme park, then take the other resort bus from there. The Disney busses do not run between the resorts.

Some are fairly close, CSR and the All Stars or Pop and CBR but not close enough to walk. Unfortunately resort to resort transportation dosen't exist so you have to go via a park to get from one resort to another. (Or grab a taxi for a minimal cost).

Personally I would stay where you like and let the rest of the party stay where they like. In hindsight on our last family trip the best thing we did was stay at different resorts. FIL and MIL were at Boardwalk, DBIL and SIL were staying DVC at OKW and we were originally at CBR, we did switch to POR to be a bit closer but to tell the truth a bit of distance may have saved the vacation.

Instead of feeling like we had to spend every minute together we met at the parks for a parade and or fireworks and for a table serve meal each day. Since they were DVC they could join us at the pool one afternoon so the cousins could play and the adults could relax.

So if you really don't want to do a value then don't worry, you can meet at the parks and spend as much or as little time together as works.

The resorts are not generally made to be walking back and forth to and from. Of course exceptions would be between Yacht and Beach Club, any of the All Stars, etc.
There are not pedestrian sidewalks, and it is not safe to walk around with all the traffic. Not to mention you will be doing enough walking around WDW already. ;)
