I'm really blessed because my thyroid cancer has had little lingering effects besides dry skin and hair. I've found great stuff for my skin but dry hair is a totally new to me. Any product recommendations?

No advice, just wanted to say I'm glad you're doing well. I am having my thyroid out in a couple of weeks. The biopsy was "suspicious."

Ohiodislover beat me to it!! I like the leave in spray as well as the deep conditioning treatment.

I also like Redken Anti-Snap leave-in conditioner as dry hair can become brittle and break easily.

Have you found the thyroid thread over on the coping and compassion board? I hope everything turns out well for you! I was worried about balancing the hormones but it's been good so far.

Have you tried the new shampoo & cond by Aveeno? I do not have the same problem as you but I have issues in the winter with my hair & this winter I had no problems while I was using it. Buy it at CVS & if you don't like it you can return it, also use the redken Anti-snap then you will be equaling out with protein & moisture.

try putting a little conditioner in your hair when your hair is dry. just a dab will help. i use pantene

I like Humectress on my dry hair. Just a pea sized amount will take all the fly aways down and let me style it properly.

Moroccan Oil! I have hypothyroidism that causes dry hair. This is the best product that I have ever used.

This is good, they also have a deep conditioner that works really well too. It is spendy but worth it.

Some people use mayonnaise. I guess it works really well. I would try that too.

My dry hair problem was solved when most of it fell out. Dry scalp is now the problem. :rotfl:

I use this too!!!!

Another idea is the try the Egg Bomb. I did, and it made my hair nice and soft. It is rated very well on Makeupalley. http://www.makeupalley.com/product/...1&SortBy=date-desc&AgeRange=0&skintonetype=-2

1 egg yolk, 2 tbs olive oil, and 1 tsp honey. Slather it on, put on a shower cap or wrap head in Saran wrap. Leave on 30 minutes and then wash out.

And, if you don't like it, you are not out $$$, just a few household ingredients!!!!

Me very favorite shampoo and conditioner is the Bed Head brand by Tigi. I use the Moisture Maniac line and I can tell a Huge difference. I also use a leave in conditioner by Paul Mitchell.

Put a deep conditioner in your hair. The put on a shower cap for 15 min. The heat will cause the moisturizer to penetrate the shaft of your hair. Then wash it out.

My hair girl recommended Redken's All Soft shampoo and conditioner. It does make a difference, but it is expensive. I think it's like $13 a bottle. You don't need to use a lot, so it lasts a long time though.

I will say that when things got a little "tight" financially last hear for us, the first thing that went was the $13 shampoo.

I have dry, thick, and wavy hair. Besides using an uber thick conditioner (I'm using Abba right now $$$) and a lightweight shampoo (i.e. neutragena), I don't wash my hair very often. Every 2 or 3 days at most. It does not get greasy. I don't know if it's the postpartum hormones, but my hair is even more dry than before. The longer I go between washings the better my hair looks. It's like it lays better or something.

I second this suggestion as well. I got the Aveeno Nourish + Revitalize as part of a Buzz campaign kit and have been using it ever since. Even the girl who cuts my hair commented on how much healthier it seems lately.

I used to use the Redkin Anti-Snap, but it became so hard to find locally. Now I use the Aveeno Nourish leave-in. It doesn't work quite as well, but still gets good results (and is less expensive).
