Any luck for CA residents saving money with new promotion?

I read about Disneyland offering CA residents discounted 3 day tickets. I believe this promotion started just this week.

Of course, I already bought my 3 day tickets in May for our trip next week. I saw a post on another site about someone being able to update their tickets online and receive the difference in money back.

I am not sure how they did this online. I have been trying to call Disney, but lines are so busy that it’s not even giving me an option to wait on hold.

Any luck for anyone also trying to see if Disney could honor this promotion for their already purchased tickets? It would save me about $275.

Thank you!

Watch this video below, it covers the topic of upgrading tickets to the CA residents tickets. As for receiving discounts, I believe the only way for that, is to request a refund on your current tickets (takes 8-12 weeks for the refund to be credited back to you) and then purchase the new CA residence tickets.

Only bad thing about doing that is you'll have to make new park reservations. Looking at the DLR availability calendar, there are already several days that are filled up and a couple that only have DCA as the starting park. So if you go that refund route and your trip is in the next few weeks, keep that in mind.

Thank you! That is exactly my concern. I don’t want anything to happen to my park reservations. 7/17 is completely sold out and that is my first day of the trip, so I can’t risk that.

In that case, first visit the ticket booth in the esplanade and ask them before entering the parks. They might be able to help you out there. If they can convert the price you paid to the 3 day CA residence price and a $275 credit, maybe you can use that credit on your meals while at the parks.

Oh hmm this gives me confidence to book my November tickets now, with the possibility of refund/rebuy if there is a promotion at that time.

We arrive on Tuesday. I had originally booked two day park hopper tickets in addition to two nights at GCH. I just called and added the California resident promotion and a third day PH and the cost was just over $28.00 to do so.

Perhaps someone will offer a different experience, but it's not standard practice for Disney to either refund tickets or refund tickets to enable a ticket holder to purchase less expensive ones. Typically they allow upgrades, but only to a higher priced ticket.

All the reports I've heard and seen about people getting refunds have been only in cases where the new ticket was higher in value. That's what happened to me. I was able to get a refund on my park hoppers, but only after buying new (higher-priced) CA resident ones and with the requirement that it would only be allowed if 1. my original tickets were not of higher value (so no money expected back) and 2. I purchased only the same number of tickets.

Just a note, only the 1 park per day is filling up and it's mainly over the next 2 weeks. There are no blocked dates right now for park hoppers at either park.

Last I looked, July 13, 14 and 20 had no reservations to either parks and July 21 was DCA only reservation.

Thanks, learn something new every day.

Thought both Single Park and Park Hopper used the same reservations calendar. :)
Parkhoppers often still have availability when the one-park tickets are sold out. Yet another reason it would make a lot of sense for Disneyland to upgrade their online system to allow for ticket upgrades...

Mom and I heard about this on the radio today and it seems like a smart but desperate idea for Disneyland to do because I think they want to attract more visitors especially CA/Anaheim locals. But I can tell you the price hike ain't gonna work because when you look at it how much can you squeeze in a 1-Day ticket? If you go to Disneyland with a 3-Day ticket or a 4-Day ticket it's actually cheaper and better. But I can tell you when Labor Day and Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas comes Disneyland will lower it's prices and perhaps lower them for 2022 for New Year's Eve/Day

I figure I’ll ask this here instead of making a new thread.

Anyone hear of any way to only have 1 days as a park hopper? I’d love to have 1 day in each park and then hop on the third day. The “this ticket cannot be upgraded” leads me to believe it’s no, but that could specifically refer to some inevitable annual pass.

No, they’ve never offered that with tickets. Even if you tried to upgrade 5-day tickets to parkhoppers on their last day of use, you had to pay for all 5 days of hoppers.
