Any killer Car rental deals for October yet????

FYI - I just played around with it a bit more, and it seems like picking it up at 4:00 pm or later is the key - an earlier pick up time results in the higher rate. Once you hit a pick up time of 4:00, the base rate drops.

The Continental airlines code + visa free day coupon gets me $194.11 for a full sized car. For me, that's as low (technically, it's 5 cents lower ;) ) as the AAA rate for the Emerald Aisle.

good find, Shannon!

thanks for your reply shannon

another interesting quirk with respect to the national site and car rentals....

mabye the rates might change lower yet....will keep watching

Debbie...WELCOME to the DIS!

I was just playing around with your dates and got a great rate using the KISS (not KISS2) code at www.dollar.com. $242.62/total for a minivan for your dates! That's not too bad. Dollar is probably going to be your best bet for a minivan as National and Alamo seem to rate their mini's above a SUV (dollar does the opposite usually). I hope this helps!

You are awesome!! We just got this rate now and reserved it! My Dad can't believe it! He wanted to say thanks too! Where does that KISS code come from? He said it definitely saved us half!!!
Yeah!!
More money to spend on the important things..............
food.........
souvineers.............
cocktails......................
......more food!!

I'm so glad it worked for you! I've rented with Dollar in the past and had good experiences. I wish I could rent with them this time, but so far they've been more expensive than National and Alamo for me. You might want to have your dad sign up for Dollar express. I believe it is free and the only complaint I did have with Dollar in the past was the wait. Joining the express program might cut down on the wait a bit. The KISS code is the same as the OCVB code I think. I noticed when I researched the code on the Dollar website it showed KISS. It is for everyone to use! I hope you have a great vacation! It's coming up fast, isn't it???

decided to take a chance & book using the amex corp. id, since we'll be using EA anyway...hope I don't get asked to produce it.

do you get the extra free driver with amex?
If you're in the Emerald club your spouse is already considered an "allowed" driver. Otherwise I don't know if the AMEX code gives you the extra driver free... :sunny:

...actually, I'd be the extra lol.

do you know if Alamos QS is the same? Tend to go with the wm code that adds it.

new codes should be out today:Pinkbounc my last ditch chance.

check your National rates, using AAA, lower than Amex now for intermediate, 8 days

6100253 & free day coupon (sams nf31)

no code needed, should be apply to apply the one that comes out today;)

finally under $200 for us (193.16)

never thought I'd think it was good rate in the past though.

was trying to think what you could use the extra $ on @ WDW but, I'm coming up empty:confused3

obsessing, looked up when I got last week's email from national (Tuesday @ 3:10 p.m.) wonder when the system "flips"?

Yippee! Still way higher than last year, but better.

Now my other question, that I think went unanswered. Do you think they will take a temporary AAA card? I got one in the mail (that I haven't activated)but it has my name printed on it and a signature line on the back, and an expiration date of 11/30.

IIRC, it flipped mid-morning last week. Not sure which went first, National or Alamo.

Honestly, I don't know. I can't imagine why they wouldn't.... we've only been asked to produce the coupon when we rent from National.

If it's got a # on it & your name you should be fine.

alamo was the "guilty" agency that required the AAA card from me last June @ garage kiosk. Honestly, think they only asked to see it because they were "slow".

@ drive out booth, national has only asked us for DLs & applicable coupon (never ask to see CC - guess because it's EA?).

Specials are up on the National page....

NOTHING for Orlando :furious:

it's the same for Alamo.

I just saw that! :furious: I'm emailing the company and seeing what is up with that. Of course they will respond with something that doesn't even apply to my question! :furious:

Since I leave on the 16th and the current deals are good through the 17th do we still have a chance to get a better rate? I'm confused by this whole thing. I was so excited for today...now I'm just sad and depressed... :guilty:

assume you can wait for next Tuesday...

I've shaved a few more bucks off national w/code NCRLESS, now $188 for 8 days, inter. EA...it's getting there.

I'm glad you are seeing changes...even if they are minor! I tried the NCRLESS and it didn't work.. Stupid DH and his stupid SUV! :furious:
