in the market for most likely a used mini van, already did ALL my research on the Sienna and Odysseys....

Just wondering how the Kia Sedona's are? Read they have a great safety record and great warrenties...

anyone out there that has one? what do you like/dislike, any major problems?? and what year do you have??

Thanks so much!

I love mine. We bought it 1 year used.

I dont have one but my sil has a 2008. She loves it, says it is the best van she has ever had.

I have a 2002 I had brought brand new..... has 70,000 miles on it........ only major repairs have been a new alternator and ac needed to be fixed this year....
we were hit with some lg maintance repair bills this year...cause we changed where we were going to repairs...a closer dealer opened up near us.. and later found out they had really taken us for a ride.....

but we have been very happy with the van.... and willare planning to buy a new Kia when we replace this car.... but we will go to our original dealership to buy it....

We have a 2005 bought in January 2008. We love it! We only bought used because we were sure we would hate having a van. We will most likely buy a new Kia when this one gives on us. It had 38,000 on it when we bought it. After two trips to Port Canaveral from Ohio and many other long road trips it is still running great. We are pushing 70,000 miles.

i think the ones with the really good safety rating are 2006 and up. I have a hyundai entourage, which is the same thing as the sedona. They do have very high safety ratings. i LOVE my van, the entourage does have a few more bells and whistles that the sedona doesnt, but i know plenty of people with sedonas and the LOVE theres.

We have a 2006 (I think). I only have one complaint. Every year when it starts getting warm, the AC smells on hot days. We have to take it in before summer really hits to get some tube or pan cleaned out. I have no idea what that's about but it is what it is. DH can't smell it but I can.

We love our Kia dealer. They take care of service appts quickly and give us 4 new free tires every year.

WE have a 2007. We like it a lot. The only complaint is the engine is probably a little rougher sounding than the 10,000 more honda or toyota. But otherwise no complaints at all.

I have a 2006 bought new. For a minivan I like it :lmao: My headlights seem to go out more than I would like, so those bulbs have to be replaced, and when it's cold my "low air" tire lights come on, but other than that, no major issues here.

We have a 2003 and love it right now it only has 49000 thousand miles and we tow with it and no major problems we bought it new before the 10 year warrenties come out so we r out of warrenty but have not had to do anything other than reg maintaince. this was our 2nd kia we had a 2000 Sportage ( husband vs guardrail , guardrail won) and we currently have a 08 optima also thats what we do most our trips on saving the miles on the van for towing (my husband drives it to work which is less than 15 miles roundtrip) love kias cause the fit my budget all the way around

I will be a Sedona owner in about 5 more days lol. I am buying a used one from my mom and her husband. I was going to buy a new Sedona, but I would rather pay all at once through family and save up money for the next two years so that I can pay cash for a new one.

His is a 2005 and he has owned it since it was new with no problems. They do have a high safety rating and I am sure we will be more than pleased with it.

I don't have the Sedona but I have owned both a 1995 Sportage that had 155,000+ miles and I currently have a 2005 Sorento with 60,000 miles. If I can afford it I will never own anything else but KIA. I was in a terrible wreck that completely totaled my Sportage. The passenager area was uneffected by the wreck, and I walked away with nothing but a bruise where the seatbelt pulled tight. My Sorento has been magnificent even though I bought it used a year ago the dealer says everything under the hood still look new.

The downside is the newer the model the more expensive the replacement parts. I am sure that this is probably true with all makes of car but I have noticed that replacement parts tend to be a little more expensive than on other vehicals I have owned. The good part is that with regular maintance they do not need a lot of repairs.

I communte and put 3,000- 5,000 miles every 3 1/2 months. My KIA dealer is AWESOME! If I schedule my oil change and don't just show up, they can have me in and out in about 15min. Much better than the hours I used to wait at Wally World. The service crew has always been very professional, kind, and the head of service is so funny. They are great people to do business with.

I'm always the lone voice of dissent on Kia threads. You can search there are many. :rolleyes1

I have a 2005 Sedona that is a pain in my neck. I have not had anything major go wrong with it, but every little thing under the sun has broken. I have literaly had to take my car in over 20 times for warranty repairs. My check engine light has come on at least 10 times and they can't ever find any problem with it. I'm waiting for the warranty to end when I'm sure they will find a real problem that will cost me.

I personally will walk before purchasing another Kia.

We have a 2008 Sedona we bought new. I love it but I have 2 small complaints. The gas mileage isn't that great and the doors don't automatically lock. Otherwise, it's a great van. It replaced our Pontiac Montana with over 100,000 miles.....

i think the ones with the really good safety rating are 2006 and up. I have a hyundai entourage, which is the same thing as the sedona. They do have very high safety ratings. i LOVE my van, the entourage does have a few more bells and whistles that the sedona doesnt, but i know plenty of people with sedonas and the LOVE theres.

Same here-ours is a 2007 and after searching for a used toyota or honda van we checked hyundai out. We love it-haven't had a moments trouble.

I have a Sportage and love it. My brother drove it and went right out and bought a Sedona.
He loves it except for the milage. It is not as good as they list, and he states that the milage goes down highway compared to city. He has some kind of tachometer or whatever that tells his milage as he drives.

My brother and his wife have had 2 Sedona's the first one was Lemon Lawed and they are dealing with Kia and dealer now for issues with the second one. The first one (a 2005 I believe) had transmission problems, the first problem they had was when the transmission fluid started spraying every where as they were driving. They had their newborn daughter and toddler son with them... not fun

The second one they got (2006 or 2007) had a bunch of issues - brakes locking and something to do with the steering :confused3 The straw that broke the camels back was that the sliding doors began opening on their own while driving down the road!

They are now driving a used Chevy Blazer since they don't trust the Kia

We bought one used it's a 2006 and we love it. We have the EX which is the upgraded model. It has 76000 miles on it now and we still love it. I do agree it could do better on gas mileage but we are happy and comfortable.

By the way they have stopped making the Sedona.

We bought a new 08 last year. We have put almost 15k miles on it. As someone who has owned over 20 cars, I can honestly say this is the best one we have owned.
It is quiet and drives like a car. Well made-nothing feels cheap or flimsy. We have not had any issues at all.
I would buy another in a heartbeat. Once we test drove it and compared it to Honda and Chrysler, we could not justify spending so much more money on those.

We love our Kia.

They have not stopped making them yet- they will not continue production after 2011 due to decreased demand for larger vehicles

thanks everyone.... it is such a hard decision to make and big investment for us, we drive our cars for 10+ years and have to stagger our payments etc... so just not sure who reliable this car is down the road, I have read soo many mixed reviews on this car... but was pleasantly surprised to read all the positive feedback here. I know no car is perfect and they all have their issues..

Thanks again!
