Any interest in a Universal Studios/Sea World Swap - SIGNUPS THIS SUNDAY!!!

I like that idea of a happy harbor group with each person doing one element. Of course I'm fine with however you choose to do any of the Sea World groups.

I'll only be participating in the Sea World groups so I have no input on the US/IOA groups.

I have additional questions before choosing for the SW groups. Were you thinking of having a shows group that would have like 5 people; each person would choose one show and do a topper and one element for that show and then have a separate exhibits group set up the same way?

If that is the case, then yes, I guess that would work. I would just prefer not to have to sign up for 5 different groups when we could accomplish stuff with only 2.

I like this format too.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I like the topper plus element format myself - it's easy to do and I'd like to keep the groups to 6 or less as that is also easy to work with. I can add more than one of the same group if a lot of people are interested.

Hope this helps - still a while to go to signups :(

Ok - not too long till signups so I want to finalize which way to go with the groups on this. I will do a topper and an element and keep the groups to 6 each.

For seaworld it looks like a show group (shamu, dolphin, sea lion, pets etc), an exhibits group (wild arctic, penguins, sharks, dolphin cove, etc) and a general group. Do you also want a happy harbor group or include it in the general?

For UO/IOA I'm not as clear.....I take less pictures on rides there for some reason....Please let me know which way you like best...

1. Do a lands group and a general group for each UA and IOA
2. Do a rides group, a lands group and a general group for each UA and IOA
3. Do either 1 or 2 and include a separate group for Suess for IOA and/or a group for characters/performers. (Ok this is two questions in 1)

I'm stumped!

I want to start getting this all written up so I can get the signups all together way before...control freak I am!

I am hoping to sign up for the SeaWorld part of this - I have never been to US or IOA

I'm interested in joining the Universal swap. I think I like the first choice. I like having lands groups, that way you would pick a show or ride in that land, right? Although, some don't have six attractions. I definetly would like a Suess group or two, that is where I took the most pictures. :)

I'm looking forward to this swap! I haven't been to UA/IOA so I am no help there. For SeaWorld, you could put the rides and Happy Harbour in one group and have the general group separate.

Well if Harry Potter makes and appearance in 2009 like they say then we will definitely be there! I would love to do Sea World I just need to plan, plan, plan. Maybe next time we are in FL.

We're putting off our next family trip until 2009 in hopes Harry will be open by then since DH and DS are big Harry fans. *Sigh* So much to do, such little time...DH can only take one week at a time from work.

We too will return to US when HP opens. We do SW each trip to FL. Can't wait for sign-ups.

I have no input on the US/IOA groups since I've never been there and won't be going soon.

For the Sea World groups, I like one show group and a separate exhibit group with a topper and element for each.

One question - Are we making the pieces specific to the Florida park or keeping them more general when there are different names for the parks?

I don't know much about the other seaworld parks so I'm not sure what would be florida only - I'm fine either way since there are people with pics from other seaworld parks too.

I checked out the SeaWorld site. I looked at the Anaheim shows, rides and attractions and I see what you mean. Although some of the are the same, many of them are similar -- slightly different name, and some are just different.

No matter to me either way - which do you ladies prefer?

It's up to all y'all. I think I'm the only West Coaster doing this so I shouldn't sway the vote. I just would have no use for Orlando specific pieces because I will NEVER be able to drag DH there when I can barely get him down to San Diego!

I'm good either way.

Shauna you are the first west coaster that I've heard say y'all!

I would love to do this, but I have never done a swap before. I'm interested in US/IOA/Citywalk. What exactly is an element only swap? How do I sign up? How do I know how many items to make? Any other info that would be helpful.

Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen!

Welcome to the swap boards then - we are a fun group of people!

If it makes you feel any better I have never hosted a swap before and you have added something that I forgot about completely - citiwalk! So now that will be a group too since I'm a big ol parrothead and have a bazillion pics of margaritaville!

Sign ups for this swap will be next Sunday but I'm not sure what time exactly - I'll post in on this thread as soon as I get the timing on my son's football scrimmage.

By element only (as opposed to a kit of more items), I mean it each person in a particular group will make 6 toppers and 6 elements of their choosing (from a list that I have yet to put together) for whatever they signed up for. If this is clear as mud, let's say that you are in a citiwalk spot of 6 people and choose Nascar as your theme (a'la nascar cafe). You would make a topper (8"x2" double matted and embellished) and another element, such as a pair of tags or a journal box & tag or photo mats in a nascar theme to coordinate with each other. If you look on some of the other sign up threads out there you will get some ideas of what an element consists of - I haven't had a chance to figure out what I want to do with that yet so I don't want to mislead you. You will send those 6 sets to me all baggied up separately with your name and group on them and when the swap is completed I will return your one topper & element for nascar along with the 5 other things that were made in that group.

If this isn't making sense I will go through some of the other signups in the arena I am thinking and send you links to those signups for reference.

Hope you'll be joining us - we'll help you along with your first swap regardless of which one it ends up being!

Thanks and it does make sense. Sounds like fun, I just hope it's not too addicting :)

Thanks again for the info.

Thanks again for the info.

It's fun and sooooo addicting. But it's worth it!

Trying to find time to scrap in between swapping is my new challenge!

For me at least, this has addeed a whole new dimension to my scrapping too - I did fairly simple pages before, especially when I had 500 pictures from a disney trip to scrap - now on my next trip I will be taking pictures to match my swap items!
