Any interest in a Universal Studios/Sea World Swap - SIGNUPS THIS SUNDAY!!!

Sounds like there is definite interest - BAMB - can we put in on the calendar? I'm away labor day weekend so after that sometime is fine and then I think 6 weeks to do it?

Maybe we should do by park then - just one for Universal Studios one for Islands of Adventure and one for SeaWorld and do general elements? Seaworld is the most general so it might be easiest to keep them all general for the park?

Any thoughts? I'm pretty open to suggestions.

Maria

You could do it generally by park but have each person sign up for an area or ride that way it would be different things that each person was doing.

I went to Universal Studios with my late husband years ago, and Sea World as a kid, but I don't have any pictures of either! But you know that when Harry Potter arrives, I will be there!!! Some how, some way, I will be there!!!

I have two trips from Sea World San Diego to scrap so I would LOVE a Sea World swap. After going to Universal Studios Hollywood and going on the backlot tour there, I have no interest in USO or IA so I would definitely sit that group out.

Great dates, missesdisney!

Well if Harry Potter makes and appearance in 2009 like they say then we will definitely be there! I would love to do Sea World I just need to plan, plan, plan. Maybe next time we are in FL.

We are waiting for Harry before we go again...to Universal at least(hopefully???) That is going to be absolutely awesome!

I'm SOO looking forward to HP Land at US! (Oh and a certain book that comes out in 22 days 12 hrs. 8 mins. 46 secs.... not that I'm counting or anything

As i was sitting at work today I just happened to come across the ole' Sea World website. Dunno how it happened. Now I am trying to convince DH that we need to go.

It's kismet - you must go! It's a totally different experience than disney though - you have to plan off the times schedule to see the shows you want and work everything else in between - but we love it!

DH and I did the Universal California backlot ride in 1990, and I have to say there's loads more to US/IOA in Orlando than there was to US in California way back then. It doesn't match Disney for themeing or atmosphere, but its still good fuin for a couple of days, with some great rides for everyone - not just thrills. DS(then 5) LOVED the Jaws ride:rotfl:

That's funny - we did it in college in 1991 and 1992 in california and I thought it was better than orlando! I liked the tram instead of waiting in lines. Plus we go offseason and it's not well staffed at US/IOA off season!

We are offiically on the calendar for this swap:

US/ Sea World - 9/7 - missdisney

Can't wait!

More details when it's a little closer.

Please keep posting ideas though!

I've been to both and I just didn't like USO at all. I didn't realize the first time I went there that they didn't have a backlot tour (yes I know, DUH - no backlot) so I was horribly disappointed. DH took me to US Hollywood a few years, I did the backlot tour and now there is no reason to go back. I would SO MUCH rather spend my time and money at DLR than deal with the rude people at US-Hollywood.

I would be interested in a general SeaWorld and Univ. Studios. 99% of my Islands of Adventure pictures were in the Dr. Suess area though.

My Islands pics are either seuss or marvel superhero - that's all we do in that park with the little guy (I usually take him to find characters at universal studios while the rest of the grownups do the coasters!)

We're on the calendar for signups in Sept and I think we'll have each person choose a theme (one of which will suess land for islands) to make.

Been thinking of ideas for groups further and want some more opinion from the swap goddessesss...

for seaworld how about a show group and an exhibits group? Shows like shamu, dolphin (whatever they renamed it) etc and exhibits like penguin encounter, sharks, etc. That doesn't include rides though - there are only the two I think and we skip them but I don't want to leave anyone out.

For UO - maybe one group for characters and one for rides? Would another for shows be needed or too much? Is there a better way to group these? I'm a little stumped on this park for groups can you tell?

IOA - There are distinct lands here so it could be done by lands or it could also be rides and characters. Help!

Someone on another thread also suggested a group for citywalk which I love since I'm a parrothead and have a bazillion margaritaville pics.

This will be my first swap to host so I'm totally open to suggestions. I'd rather have more groups that cover what everyone wants than a few huge ones.

Thanks for your inputs!

I like the idea of having a shows group and exhibit group at Seaworld. We haven't done the rides either. There is that Happy Harbor area too...we skipped it as it the same as Sesame Place and there is only so much you can fit into one day.

I knew AB owned both Sea World and Sesame Place. I've never been to SP. I would have thought they would have made them a little different. I guess why reinvent the wheel, huh? Happy Harbor is where we usually spend most of our time. Would that fit into either category?

We can add another group or change the groups to meet more of what people need - I'm game for anything and we also do happy harbor. Could be a general group or a happy harbor group with different elements for each person? Thoughts?
