We staying at Marriott GV for 4 nts last week in July before we book into Floridays for 10 nts. Wondering if anybody could tell me a little about the facilities and the layout of the buildings. We are not renting a car and I will be over 6 months pregnant so wondering what building would be the best to ask for  :???

  • nearest walking distance possible to front entrance (for getting IRide/bus to Seaworld)
  • Want to be nearest the kids pool - whichever has interactive sprinklers etc for younger kids (we have a girl age 4 with us)
  • would like one of the fresher buildings (renting 1 bed unit with sleeper sofa)
  • near as possible to reception and shop
I know all of the above will probably be a tall order but realistically I won't be up to walking miles to the entrance every day in the heat so maybe that's the most important factor.

Also wondering what other facilities to expect.
  • Is there a playground? Is it covered from direct sunlight?
  • Is there a disney shuttle? What (if any) is the charge?
  • Is it walking distance to nearby restaurants? (like Denny's for breakfast),
  • Is Publix on Vineland the nearest grocery supermarket? (will prob get sunray from MCO with grocery stop so not too important)
  • Is there a DVD in the units?
  • Anybody know of any weblinks to pictures of the interactive kids pool?
  • Can you use Marriott Horizons facilities if you staying at MGV?
  • Any other tips you have are more than welcome!!!
I've googled MGV every which way and can't find the answers to any of the above,
Thanks a million in advance,
Aine

We have stayed at Marriott's Grand Vista the last four years. We go in December, but here is what I can tell you:

The newer units/buildings are in the back of the duplex. That is the furthest from the reception/check-in area. There are a few different pools, but we request the newer buildings so we are close to the pools that have a small kids pool nearby and a bar/restaurant.

There are DVD or VCR players in all units. The first couple of years we had VCR, but the last couple have had DVD.

Great kids area, but again, these rooms are right off the reception area.

In the middle of the resort is a beach area on the lake. Very pretty!

I don't know about shuttles to Sea World, but I don't think there is one to WDW.

No restaurants or shopping within walking distance. There is a Publix/restaurants/outlet shopping area within a short ride.

I wouldn't recommed the time-share presentation with the $100 WDW passes (or whatever the ploy is these days). They are super pushy and made us feel very uncomfortable. However, these were the sales people that we felt this way about...the staff at the resort is great!

Hope that helps!

We stayed at MGV a few times before buying at WH and really enjoyed it. The newer buildings are at the rear of the complex but there is a bridge over the small lake that gets you up front in about a 3-5 min. walk. The building we stayed in was called Cristobal and it was completed probably about a year and a half ago. Although they say the main kids pool is in the front complex, we actually preferred the pool area by our complex, it had a childrens castle play area with water features and water cannons. My 3 and 5 year old preferred it because it was not as packed and they were able to use and go where ever they wanted.

Have fun,

Steve

I have some idea of the layout of the resort now! Water area with the canons sounds great!

I like the setup at the Marriott better than Disney.

they don't demand that the front desk/restuarant/main pool - be at the entrance.

so this part is more in the middle of everything.

here is a link from marriott

both the 1-bedroom and studio have the same beds, king bed and queen sleeper sofa.

the 1-bedroom has a full kitchen, the studio has a kitchennett.
the 1-bedroom has a whirlpool tub and shower stall in the bedroom, the studio has just the combination tub and shower.

the 1-bedroom has a washer/dryer.
