I was at MK Sunday night, waiting for Wishes. I was on the right side of the hub, in front of the pop corn vendor. It was about 10 till 9, and Disney security started getting people out of the street. The paramedics ran through with a stretcher toward Tomorrowland. Just before Wishes started, they rushed back out toward the front of the park. I guy was giving the victim CPR as they ran down Main Street. The man was blue. It was pretty upsetting. They ran right in front of me. Shortly after that, another paramedic ran toward TL with a back board, but he never came back through. Probably took that person out the utilidors or something.

Since it looked like two people were involved, it made me think it was an accident. I checked the news, newspaper, asked at the front desk, and other cast members, but no one would tell me anything. I just got back late last night.

Has anyone heard what happened? I'd just like to know if the man lived.

I don't personally know but I assume if it was a heart attack or such it really wouldn't be newsworthy. I am sure these kind of things happen quite a bit for such a big place like WDW. I'm sorry you had to witness something like that. I can upset a trip.

Why should they? They do not need to tell you anything. First of all it is none of anyone's business. Second, WDW will not talk about anything "negative" occurring on property.

^^^That was a bit harsh, don't you think? My take on Kelli's post was just that she was upset and hoping to hear the man was alright.

I used to work in a place that had a lot of older tourists. Heart attacks were a regular occurance there. I saw the paramedics rush in on a regular basis. I'm certain this happens at WDW way more often than you think. I don't think the majority of cast members would have a clue as to who was hurt/ill on a case by case basis.

Well I think you should take your own advice and mind your own business. You should not have even responded with an attitude. She was just concerned.

if I may reply to your concern. It is so kind of you to feel such compassion for someone you never met. I was passing Space Mountain (on the road) where several Orange County cars and ambulances were dispatched.

Just to really answer your question as best as it can be answered, Disney would never tell it's Cast Members or a non immediate family members what happened.

They would respect the privacy of the faily(ies) involved in such a emotional issue. So it is not likely that you will learn much other than rumor.

While the "tone" used in Dznefreek's post could have been read as unfriendly he/she was right about a couple of things. For all we know it may have been one of his/her relatives that was involved. We never know all the things that make a person respond in a way that seems harsh to others of us. Mostly it is true that security hosts are trained not to discuss anything negative that occurs on property. Since it is none of our concern the most we can do is say our prayers for the individual(s). That's all you can really do. You've shown you are a compassionate individual.

Bless You

diznefreak, I don't believe she asked if it was her buisness I believe she asked for maybe 2 reasons one because she was there and had to experience seeing it and wanted to know that the man might be ok, or maybe since she saw too stretchers maybe there was an accident on one of the rides and that would be her buisness as she and her family were vacationing there and wanted to know if there was something wrong with a ride. In the future say no I don't know of anything or don't post at all. You were Just plain RUDE.

I think you would be surprised to know what goes on and never a word is heard about it to the outside. (from what I have seen/not heard)
About a month ago was an obvious fatality wreck at a main gate on 536. Traffic going towards the parks was diverted to I4 eastbound. It looked like the jaws of life was used to remove the top of a car. A van was also involved.
I have seen the aftermath of other wrecks, ambulances, police officials, skycopters searching over a resort, etc. Not one word mentioned.
How about a Jungle Cruise boat sinking this month? I only knew about that from another board.
But again, what is the public's business and what isn't? WDW is a large, busy area. You have to expect something happens daily.

I hate to sound cold but I think the news people just figure it was not newsworthy. When I was there in Feb of 2000 and someone was wounded(fatally I think) on Splash mountain it was in the news that night. Anyway, I hope everything turns out all right for that family. Terrible to have something like that happen at the most Magical place in the world.

I think you're right, if the media doesn't feel that they can get shock value from a story then they won't run it. I am sorry that you had to witness the incident and I hope that everyone concerned is fine.

This reminds me of how my family felt when my Uncle died suddenly at a resort in Hawaii. He was having the time of his life. He spent his last days with his family. He died with a smile on his face, what more could one want for a loved one? So when you think about the man you saw just remember that he was in a wonderful, magical place for his last day (if he did die).

On a side note, people die all the time in theme parks of heart attacks, and it is no reflection on the parks. I know an EMT from California and he told me Disney has the best trained EMT's and Firemen in Orange County. I guess they have their own? Not sure, that is just what he said.

I don't think having heart attacks is newsworthy.
How would any CM know at the time the person had a heart attack anyway? Generally it is the doctor that diagnoses a heart attack after running a series of tests. We go to WDW twice a year. On every trip we see someone passed out somewhere and paramedics coming out of the woodwork to help them. You probably saw one of many that day happening around WDW. Be it the heat, heart, or too many mickey bars, there will alway be someone kissing the pavement. On our last trip we were eating ice cream on Main St at the tables by the Plaza. A lady at the next table keeled over onto the ground. Within 3 minutes 2 paramedics came out of a little door behind the Plaza restaurant and hauled her away. I seriously doubt Disney tries to keep these incidents undercover.

 :(

Our pastor had a heart attack at WDW while he was there with other clergy friends, rides and heat got to him and he was treated wonderfully..I hope that man is ok, very sad for him and his family on vacation.

Wow, I didn't think this thread got any responses. And I am surprised at some.

My main concern was if the man was okay. It looked like he was near death, and I just wanted to know if he survived. I don't want to know his name, family, SS#, just if he's okay. Also, there was a back board taken back after the first man was taken out, did this mean there was an accident? An unsafe ride? More injuries. I guess that question was out of curiosity sake, not concern. Sorry for being human
 .
