ANY info about Fishhawk Ranch Area in Lithia, Florida? Other gated communities?

Hi All, thought I'd take a shot at finding out if anyone is familiar with or lives near/at this particular area in Florida.


Would you mind sharing anything you like or dislike about the area, community, upkeep, the amenities, etc....

Considering this area and trying to get some insight to areas we'd like to see/possibly avoid. Schools are not an issue, though of course for possible resale down the line, we'd like them to be good.
Looking for a clean well maintained gated community that is safe and has good amenities. There is only so much to find on the internet before "seeing" it for ourselves. Any other gated areas you'd also recommend? Not looking 55+, looking mostly lock and leave, we like the mix of condos/townhomes and houses, etc...
Figured someone on the DIS is familiar with it...........as I find just about every answer to any topic here on the DIS, !

It is somewhat isolated and out in the boondocks. It looks very difficult to get to. It is South of a line between Tampa and Lakeland and not really close to anything.

Not what I was hoping to hear. Thanks though. I believe it is an entire community...schools, town center, many amenities, etc.....

My DH has a business associate that lives in Fishhawh Ranch. I've only been to his house once but it was beautiful and I really liked the area. He's lived there at least 5 years but likely more.

He must like it, it is pretty far from his work and he is a guy who could afford to move if he wanted to.

Radionate, sorry I did not see your thread. I am terrible at locating threads but will give it another shot......Interesting, I will try and locate it.
I saw some pix and the place looked really nice, so I am interested in hearing how the residents like it....they have some "community fees" involved because of the gated community atmosphere, so I was wondering if people thought the amenities were worth the cost and what kind of turnover (sales/foreclosures) they get and as far as absentee landlord type things, as we'd prefer to avoid that as much as we can in this economy...

I didn't start it. I swear I replied to a thread about Fishhawk Ranch a few days before I saw this one.

I was on my phone so maybe it didn't post. I don't know.

I missed DH's call with the guy who lives there this am or I would harass him to ask.

My DH has to go into the office tomorrow so he won't talk to him until at least Wednesday.

I can't imagine that he has issues with it. He doesn't have kids in school anymore and has enough money that even in this economy he could move if he wanted to. He mostly works mostly from home and I don't think his wife works at all so it isn't like they are incredibly tied down.

They have a pool so I doubt they take advantage of a neighborhood pool or something like that.
