Hi all

I am off to DLP in May

I am taking my Sony HDD Camcorder, which I am planning on putting on full quality as last time I tried to save space and the clips didnt look so great on the TV.

What I was wondering was does anyone know of any place I can plug the camcorder in and burn the mpeg files created to disc (this is only me being cautious as it has a 30Gb HDD)

Do any of the resorts have laptops or anything at all??

I have never heard of the resorts having laptops, are you not able to take one with you?

I only have a desktop unfortunately, a little big to bring especially since I use my 42" as a monitor. lol

Just looking for a way to get the clips off if it gets a little full

Sony makes a little device that's basically nothing more than a DVD burner. About the size of... I don't know... An old mobile CD player.

The camera hooks up directly to it, and it burns DVD's straight from the camcorder.

I would suggest that... As it's a lot cheaper than a laptop, and is probably a nice device to have around at home anyway... It's not something you'd only use on the trip.

There are other brands, any of which will work... And prices vary based on features (LCD screen on the unit to watch as it records, etc)...

HERE'S THE DOWNSIDE... They're not Blu-Ray. So they won't be true 1080HD like the camera is really recording. It'll be something less. But that's true of any DVD you'd burn in your PC or something anyway... You'd have to have a blu-ray burner to get the highest pic quality.

I'd put a link here to the sony webpage on the unit I'm talking about, but I don't have 10 posts, so it won't let me.

EDIT TO ADD: HOLY COW! Sony now makes a Blu-Ray version of what I'm talking about! So now you CAN burn to those DVD's in 1080 resolution! Guess what I'm buying later tonight?!?

The model is a VRD-MC5. Worth looking into.
