any ideas on how to deal w/claim?

OMG, well, there goes my good feeling about staying at the poly in two weeks. Thanks so much for the heads up. Looks like I have to keep an eye on everything now. I didn't do that before, but now I am fully paranoid.

Please, don't get paranoid. These are just basic safety points that travelers should practice "ANY" time they are staying in a hotel. The poly is no worst than any other hotel. I've had theft happen to me at the 4 seasons in Paris.
Some tips are pretty routine:

1) Never, ever leave valuables laying around in your hotel. Believe it or not dishonest people are every where. Even at disney.
2) if you have a laptop. Invest in a lock. Can't stress this enough. There are really cheap.
3) If you buy souveniers, put them in your suitcase or out of site when your not in the room. All those pretty blue bags scream "I have disposable money"
4)When you are in the room and cm's come to your room- never leave them unattended. Nowadays valuables are really small. I-Pods, cell phones, digital cameras and jewelry can easily be palmed.

Hotels are required to keep track of crime data so always file a report. If they see a trend they can do some thing about it.
Unfortunately hotels have a standard disclaimer, you know the one. Not responsible for personal items left in a hotel room.
