Thanks to the great posters on here I was able to get a fairly decent small $90 stand up jewelry armoire for DD's bedroom this Xmas for about $33 at Target using the $10 gift cards I got from the $50 promo.

She won't be expecting this and I am using it to replace a same size drawer castle holder she has had in her room since she was little:sad2:. She's 15 and told me the other day that she really didn't want it in her bedroom anymore. So, I thought it might be nice to get her one of the stand of jewelry armoires on legs to put in it's place since they are around the same size.

After getting it I was ready to wrap it and began to think how fun it would be if when she opened it it was filled with some inexpensive costume jewelry.Sooo, sadly we don't have a $1 jewelry store around here---love the one's in Branson Missouri---wish I could go there ---I would literally fill it up.

I know I probably won't fill it up but I would love to find some VERY inexpensive costume type jewelry--rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. but if I have to spend alot per piece there won't be much.

Does anyone know of any super sales or places like Claires, or jewelry sections with clearances in the dept. stores or places like Gordman's that would have stuff maybe in the $2 and under range???? I know that's probably a long shot but I've found a lot of great deals here from people in the know.

I did google $1 jewelry online----there's not much but I don't know if I trust ordering from a site that is not part of a bigger company.

Just wondering if anyone here has done anything like this or knows where I could find some great deals?---would love to be able to get everything all at one place----I so wish we had a $1 jewelry store around here:confused3

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!:)

I would check out Claire's. The one by my house always has 10 for $10. There will be packages or 6 or 10 earrings for $1.

I did the jewelry armoire for my dd for Christmas as well. I ordered a bunch of jewelry on amazon from a seller called the ultimate collection. They were .01 each and $2.00 each for shipping so $2.01 each, I am actually impressed with the quality for the price and everything came very fast. I think dd wil be quite happy with it.

Claire's and The Icing are the same company but The Icing is a little more..fancy...grownup maybe? But they often have the same 10 for $10 sale.

Kohl's frequently has stuff on clearance that's really cute. You might pay a little more than $1 an item, but you can get some nice stuff.

Forever 21 has very inexpensive jewelry for her age group! If you don't have one in your area you may be able to order online.

Claire's and Icing (same company) would be the other inexpensive places. You can look for clearances at American Eagle and The Buckle, maybe Maurice's. And keep browsing Target & Shopko or JC Penney clearance sections.

Have you looked locally at thrift stores, Goodwill, and consignment shops? You will find all kinds of inexpensive Jewelry. Also if you have any Christmas Tree shops check the check out lines for jewelry, especially large costume pieces usually 2 for $3.00.

I've had good luck with clearance jewelry at both Cato and Fashion Bug. Also Targets dollar spot often has some and Walmart too.

What's Charming Charlie? I've never heard of that.

OP I find things like that at Claire's regularly, I gave DD a purse with a small wallet inside that I put some jewelry pieces in, I got them at Claire's for $1 :)

Just tossing out some "different ideas"...

What about little girl jewelry - we used the "little girl" jewelry so DD would have something fun to open on Christmas - the year we actually wanted to get her a nice necklace (and let her pick it out after Christmas)

Also - just another fun idea - do you remember the "candy" necklaces? That might be something fun too!

If you have a JC penney near you...i was at mine the other day and they had a TON of jewelry on clarence for 1 and 3 dollars...I got my daughter quite a few things....

Why don't you just give it to her with one or two nicer pieces of jewelry (made of sterling, for example) and let her have the pleasure of filling it up as she accumulates jewelry she likes? My DDs are 14 and 16 and over the years we have thrown away so much junky jewelry that turns their skin green and falls apart. It's a waste of money and effort and might well contain lead and arsenic.

Better to teach your daughter the value of money and high quality things.

Decently priced accessories store that is much more young adult focused than Claire's which I see more for Tweens! Sorry I thought it was a national chain as we had them in WI and they have them here in FL.

I agree with drcmk. I would give her something of higher quality and not some junk.
I also liked the idea of the candy necklace. Maybe you could get her a gift card to a store that sells jewelry and put it in the box along with a candy necklace or ring pop.

Do you have Five Below near you? They have some cute things. You could always add in some hair accessories to fill it in a bit. I would have loved something like this when I was young and in fact, I would love one now. I have a combination of nice jewelry and costume things and love and use them all at different times. I even have a few pieces of "junky" stuff from when I was a teen (too many years ago to mention :) lol) and am glad I kept them.
Have fun filling up and I hope your daughter loves it!

ITA - in this day and age, there are so many of the $1 jewelry that has led in it - that whole thing scares me! :scared:

(and I'll add my dd has lost a few pieces, of the good stuff - it hurts, but, it is what it is)

Yeah I agree that filling it up with cheap jewelry is probably a waste of money. I'd rather have a few nicer pieces than a bunch of junk unless you know for sure she can wear cheaper stuff with no ill effects and likes that kind of thing.

I'd personally get one or two nice pieces and then if you can get away with it, snitch any of the stuff she has already and put it in to fill the box up.

Thanks, I did a location search, they are all in So Cal, none up here in Nor Cal. :) They look like they have some nice stuff.
