Any ideas? My backpack/purse was lost/stolen at Orlando airport

Oh, and by the way...it would really be appreciated if the first person who 'reports' a post would note it on the thread. I sometimes get about 8 post notifications for the same post...it takes while to go through each one. So, report it, and then post that you have reported it. That way no one else will think it needs reporting. Thanks guys.

OP - Do you have homeowner's/renters or trip insurance for the trip?

Possible they might cover your loss, but generally electronics (the flip) aren't covered anyway and after deductible might not be worth your time (sorry)

you'd def. need a police report to proceed, which might be difficult to obtain depending on the amount of time since your trip.

Based upon past experience, I'd be more worried about possible identity theft issues at this point, might want to monitor or flag your credit reports (call/write the major players - Experian, etc.) to make sure no accounts are opened without calling you directly to verify.

I had already passed security. The airline printed my whole family new boarding passes without asking for any id - even though my husband still had his on him. I appreciate all the positive comments and I feel sorry for the negative people out there - Maybe I am getting old. I was brought up to never say anything unless you had something nice to say - oh well....

I don't think anyone had anything particularly 'negative' to say. I think some were just confused. I also wondered how you were able to board without a bp or ID. Thanks for clearing that up for us.
I know that many of us have put something down, either on the seat or the floor close to us. And then, in the flurry of boarding, have almost left something behind. Not hard to understand. Hopefully, none of this winds up costing you..either monetarily or identity-wise. That just would be rubbing salk in the wound.

Actually, boarding without ID isn't as hard as you'd think. After having our bag stolen in MCO a few years ago, we had to do it...just used the police report from the station at the airport and what limited paperwork and stuff we still had to get our boarding passes and get through security. Took a little longer at each part, but made it through...and that was for an international flight.

Warning...check everywhere in your rental car before you hand over your keys. We realized about 5 steps from the car that neither of us had grabbed the laptop bag from the backseat. Turned around, and the car was gone. Lapsed time...about 45 seconds, tops. Company driver was already long gone. Manager called, but was told there was nothing in the car. End result was that everything was gone for good, and in fact, as the manager was calling, our credit card was being used at a nearby gas station. And this was a well-known national chain. Thieves move fast. When your stuff is gone, it's usually long gone.

When I checked in for my flight last week, I was handed my boarding pass and told, "Don't lose this or you won't be able to get on the plane." by the Skycaps. Now, obviously the airline follows its rules less stringently than expected.

Not sure what the inventor of the polio vaccine has to do with losing things at the airport, but...

NOT NEARLY comparable to what the OP lost, but to demonstrate about what goofy4tink's talking - back in the olden days when we used film cameras I had two multi-packs of unexposed high-speed film that I asked to have hand-inspected. I was told there'd be a wait while the person who did that was located.

After the plane took off, I remembered I forgot the film

Don't think anyone was trying to be negative, just understand the particulars and try to offer suggestions on where and to whom you should be going for asistance. Hope you do get your pictures back at the least.

Well, since we actually didn't even have our boarding passes yet, and had nothing other than a police report and some crumpled hotel receipts to prove we were who we said we were, we were pretty surprised at how easy it was to get boarding passes, go through security, and board an international flight home without any ID whatsoever... I would think it would be even easier than that to board a flight, especially a domestic one, if they knew that the airline had already checked your ID when you were getting your boarding pass and then security had checked it again as you went through the checkpoint.
