I just got an email back from a company that has asked for "please attach your salary requirements"

How do I do this???

Thanks

I'm not in HR anymore but I used to be.
I'm not sure if you are asking technically how to respond via an e-mail attachment or asking how to determine what your response should be?
It sounds as though the company would like you to reply to the e-mail and let them know what you require in terms of a salary. Give them a range "$$$-$$$ depending on fringe benefits". :)

So Ann,
I just need to write in the body of the email what I would like for a salary??

How do I do this general if I post for a position that requires me to send in a salary requirement.

I have always hated that question.

Thanks

Yes, you have to give them an idea of A.) what you've made in the past and B.) what you're looking to make in a new job.

You may hate the question, but how else is a company going to know whether or not to pursue you as a candidate if they don't know if you fit their salary range? And on the flip side, how annoyed would you be if you went through the trouble of interviewing for a job and then find out that the salary range they're talking about is way under what you make now?

Hmmmm...HR people! Good people to know. Especially when relocating to another area!! Like Virginia! ;)

I've been out of HR for about 7 years...the "electronic" resume/application stuff was just beginning then (I was in the public sector...a little slow with technology-related stuff ;) ).... But to answer your comment, yes I think probably just hit reply and in the body of the e-mail tell them a range, with a comment about it being negotiable depending on other factors. As the previous poster says, it's a way for them and you to weed out people/positions that are not even in each other's ballpark.
In general I think that if a position posting requests that you send them your requirements, you should do some research - if you are not already familiar - on what would be a suitable range in that particular geographical area, for that particular type of job, leaving enough wiggle room in the range for factoring in other things which come up later in the hiring process. Entry level ranges will be narrower than higher level professional ranges. Know what I mean?

How do I correctly add it to a resume? Do I need to write is as a cover sheet type?

Thanks
Linda

Maybe I should change the title to any Orlando/Tampa HR managers..

I don't think salary requirements should go on a resume. Include it in the cover letter if you are responding to an ad that says "send resume and salary requirements........."
:)

How I wish I was relocatign to Florida!! ;) :)

I once interviewed with a local insurance company. Turned out that I was looking for about $9,000 more than they were willing to offer! (This is why I like info over the phone first! Don't waste my time!) However, in this case, they went out and did a salary survey of other companies with a similar position. They then changed it to the ballpark I was looking for! However, I didn't get that job. sniff, sniff! It would have been GREAT!

After all other considerations have been factored in (benefits, possibilities for advancement, work environment, commute, etc.), I would simply add 10% to your existing salary as a starting point for negotiation.

My two cents, Steve
