Hey there...yeah yeah...I know Animal Kingdom is still pretty new compared to how old the other parks are...but I was wondering if there was any talk or rumors or plans or whatever of a new park...maybe even ideas that they're just throwing around...

I for one hope they never build a 5th park. I would much rather they make the other four better. Add rides, refurbish old ones, add monorail service to all parks, add better shows, start using the studios again for movies and tv shows. Adding a 5th park would be number 12,225,488 on my list of things I wish would happen in WDW.

My daughter who works at AK said they had a meeting telling them (CM's) that a new park is going to open featuring faries and unicorns and such..she swore me to keep it a secret but I am a DISER and have to tell tou guys this news..

Hmmmmm...unicorns??? Has there ever BEEN a unicorn Disney character???

Fantasia (1940 version) Pastoral Symphony section, Baachuus had a sidekick that was a donkey unicorn (named Jackuus).

So rather than putting Beastly Kingdom inside DAK, make a separate park????
They'd be better off going back to the original idea.

I would like to see a park based on Villians. I have heard this rumor several times before and always liked the idea.

I suspect this is Beastly Kingdom, which was one of the original lands for AK that was never built. My guess is that they were talking about finally adding this land to, rather than building a new park. If so, this would be great news.

Sounds like you've been handed a line. Sounds like another go-round of the "beastly kingdom" rumor. According to this rumor, this was supposed to be one of the areas of AK, but never made it into existence.

The only major construction going on at AK is Everest.

The concept of Beastly Kindom was more than a rumor. If you search, you can find imagineering drawings of it on the web and miceage ran a series of articless on what what would have been one of its main attractions, (a Drogon based coaster), written by on of the Imagineers who was on the project. BK got replaced by Camp Minnie Mickey due to budget cuts, but the plans were very real.

While Beastly Kingdom was definitely more than a rumor at its time, what the one member was told by her daughter about a new park is mostly likely false. The rumor of a 5th park has been circulating for awhile...and every time the rumor resurfaces, I always hear of more people who know CMs who have "inside info" as to what this mystery park shall be. And every time, it's something different. IF a 5th park were to be opened, I highly doubt they'd be sharing the news with all the CMs until it was official....especially considering many of those CMs aren't there for long term.

On another board I'm on, Disney related, I DO know someone who is higher up in the Disney company (not merely someone who works at one of the parks). We've discussed this "5th park" rumor with him several times, he's always debunked it. Now, it could be he knows more than he's letting on, but he did bring up a good point in that parks take MANY years of planning and then another many years to build. One ride alone can take 2 years to build. So something tells me that a 5th park is not going to be talked about in meetings and such with regular CMs until this has all been planned out and officially decided on.

Something needs to be done about the continuously long lines at the MK before they start looking into a new park. Besides, there was that article in the Orlando Sentinel last week about management saying that they were not going to build any more new parks in the USA, but supposedley "improve" the existing ones. If you consider adding "off the shelf" rides and shows to existing parks an improvement. :sad2: :rolleyes2 What's going to become of the Imagineers?

Are you kidding me? The long lines are what disney wants. Oh sure, they're looking to avoid the 120 minute type lines but let's face it, they could easily keep lines down on many occasions by keeping the rides running at full capacity (i.e. both sides of GTMRR or SM, for example) but they don't. The waits are determined by effieciency ratios.

A new Park would be a great thing (and yes, I'd personally prefer they beef up the other Parks first) but in reality neither will happen to our liking. They will continue to add to the Parks piecemeal to keep the average fan's attention and the new park will NOT be built until the bean counters (no offense Mr. Curling, sir) can show the eveidence of additional profit form said Park...Which will not happen in our lifetimes.

OK, if people are standing on line for 45 min. to an hour, they are NOT spending their buckaroos on t-shirts and $45 sun hats with goofy on them. Wouldn't that be a reason to keep off the over extended lines? Or am I missing something........It seems to me that they would more then make up the cost of using a little more Disney generated power opening another ride vehicle and putting on another CM, by selling more of their Chinese made super high profit trinkets........... perhaps?

I don't disagree with you but I really think Disney does. They often close what could be very profitable food and drink stations and carts well before closing in order to save on CM time (I presume). Is that smart either? I just think they have a formula that favors crowds and long lines as often as possible and favors early closures and payroll savings in times of guest decline...

I guess we were never meant to understand Disney's thought processes.

I can sum up Disney's thought processes in 2 words: Corporate Mentality.

As much as I love all-things-Disney, things would be so much better if the Co. would forget the "bottom line", and go back to doing things the way they were done when Walt and Roy were in charge.
