I figure at least the first few will be blackout dates. I just wonder if the entire first year or so will be a blackout date.
Thank you for that. I thought I was early posting but I wasn't the only one wondering.I'm actually on hold with them to ask while I'm thinking. Ive never used a placeholder before. Is there any blackout dates for normal cruises other then the normal use in 2 years?

I was thinking the same. I hope there is a chance for OBB discount. If you think sailing on the Fantasy is expensive, I assume that the new ship(s) will make the Fantasy's rates seem reasonable, and the Magic / Wonder downright affordable!
But I was surprised when we booked our Fantasy cruise (it's 2nd or 3rd sailing) "way late" and it wasn't that bad. Even more surprising was that there were only Veranda's available when we booked - 'cause we're port hole people.![]()

Ill call and again later and verify but this is what DCL reservations told me. (I hate knowing more then they do sometimes)
If you book a placeholder cruise, and want to apply it to a Maiden, some of the benefits may not apply. For example, if the Maiden of new build 5, is blocked out, you can use the $250 towards the down payment of the maiden (which the down payment is typically a set amount, not the percentage that normal cruises are) but any discount or other perk of the placeholder will not apply. The key word is IF.The Maiden may or may not get blocked out. Its really too early to say for sure. The person I talked tried to tell me the new ships weren't announced yet. We know they'll debut in 2021, we just don't know exactly when. And that will also determine, when the placeholders will be available to use or lose. Theoretically, if you book a place holder the last week of 2019, you should be covered. Realistically, I'm thinking that the new ships will do there Maidens early in the year, like between Jan and May.
Fantasy was christened in NYC on March 1, 2012 - so that falls in that time frame if they follow the same pattern with the new ones.
So was the Dream. They were both Christened and had there Maidens in the early part of the year. The Magic and Wonder were supposed to sail in the early part of the year but got delayed to the middle of 98 and 99.
That would be a great experience. I know you wish you could have gone.Thanks. I remembered the Fantasy because I was working at the Disney Store in Times Square and some of the cast got to go out on a little boat to welcome her. I got invited but it was last minute and I would have had to take a self-treatment sick day...so potentially being on TV (GMA was showing her entrance and stuff) was no bueno.
