Any Grand Cayman beaches within walking distance of dock?

Are there any beaches to relax on within walking distance of the dock area? I know you can take a cab over to 7 Mile Beach, and we may just do that, but i was wondering if there was anything closer?

Also... once you get off the ship, do you pretty much stay on the island unitl it is time to go back? Does anyone go back to the ship and then BACK to the island? Or is this just too much of a pain because of the tendering?

No real “Beaches” in Georgetown where the tenders dock, but Abanks Dive shop (http://abanksdivers.com.ky) is just to the right (south) of the tender dock. They have a small area on some sand on top of the rocky shoreline that has access to the water for some pretty good snorkeling. You can rent a lounge chair get snacks and drinks there also. If you want a real sand beach for swimming, then 7-mile is your best (and almost only) choice on Grand Cayman.

You could take a quick cab ride to seven mile beach I doubt it would be an expensive ride. Where the tender brings you in is mostly coral and shops, I don't know if they allow unescorted people onto the coral ( I did see some snorkle group). As for the spending the day, the tender ride is very short maybe five mins. so you could conceivably go back and forth to the boat, just remember the last tender leaves at 4:30 and you NEED to be on it!

Thanks for the replies! I think we will stick with our plan of going over to 7 Mile Beach. Just thought I would see if there were any other nearby options out there!

7 mile beach is nice nothing to rant and rave about... i suggest the shore excursion to Rum Point.. that beach is to die for
