Any garden view rooms to avoid at the Grand Floridian?

Good evening. We're returning to the GF in about 40 days for our second stay. Although we're generally familiar with the GF's layout and didn't notice any particularly unattractive garden view rooms on our last visit, I'd like to hear from GF veterans about buildings or rooms to avoid. We stayed at Sago Cay last time; nice view of the monorail and a bit of the lagoon, but not awesome either.

Also: which is the smoking building? I'd like to avoid that too.

There is a small part of Big Pine Key that directly faces a building. Most of the building has a pool view on the garden view rooms, but I've read reports where some people were in rooms facing a building and they were not very happy.

There are a few rooms in Boca Chica on the first floor that you are looking at the back of the Pool Bar building. If you get up higher you look over it, to the pool and the main building beyond, which is a great view
I think the only non desireable ones are on the first floor. In Big Pine Key you are probably looking at the same building. It also houses the area where they store the towels for the pool.

A few years ago, we stayed at Sugar Loaf, before it went concierge. We were given what was described as a "marina" view. What it was: a room overlooking the back of the lagoon, with construction cranes set up (they were renovating the GF at the tme) and an up-close-and-personal view of the monorail. It was SO un-magical and dull :sad2:

Adding to that: we ended up having a problem with the in-room safe; I couldn't get it open to get out my money! The GF had to call a maintenance guy, from a locksmith company, to come the following morning and get it open.

We ended up changing rooms -- same building, across the hall, with a ver pretty marina view, overlooking the boats.

Don't know which ones to avoid, but one I would request is a garden view in Conch Key. The only drawback is that it's the furthest from the main building and pools, probably a 2-3 minute walk. Other than that, the building is quiet and the views do overlook all garden and some very pretty trees.

I agree with Tammi on requesting Conch Key. We stayed in Conch Key and had a wonderful view of the gardens and could see the lagoon from our room. :goodvibes
Also, it's right next to the boat dock, so you can step outside of your room to watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom. :)
The walk to the main building only takes about a couple of minutes.
