Yes, thoughts and prayers for safety for all! So terrible!! My cousin used to live in Fort Mac. Fortunately he's back living here in BC but he still owns a house there that will most likely burn.

My DH is working up there right now. Worried sick about him Some of the pictures and videos of what's going on there are absolutely frightening.

Agreed. We're from NB. There are literally thousands of New Brunswickers in Fort Mac. I know several that have lost homes

East central AB here. Our thoughts are definitely with the folks up north, too. I was driving into Edmonton yesterday and CBC radio was doing full time coverage. Absolutely terrifying at how fast the situation escalated! Our area is tinder dry too and we were over 30 degrees just like Fort Mac was. Sure hope everyone is going to be careful in the outdoors with anything that could be an ignition source. I for one am not going to drive anywhere off road with anything for the foreseeable future.

Oil field companies have opened up their camps for evacuees. Incredibly there has been no reported fatalities. Two babies have been born at the man camps. Sad for all the people that lost their homes.

I used to live in Fort McMurray, but have been calling Edmonton home for 5 years now. I have a few family members and lots of friends who still live up there, it's devastating.

I just packed up all my extra Mickey stash of shampoos and stuff to send to the relief centers. My heart is breaking for al the families.
