I don't know why I feel funny about this because we've been to the Disney parks many times and I've never felt uncomfortable but I feel a little uncomfortable going to the water parks because I'm on the pudgy side - not huge but fluffy. Even when we went on the Disney cruise I didn't feel bad. Do other fluffy folks go to the water parks? Is everything fluffy friendly? I'm sure I'm freaking out over nothing but I don't want to embarass myself or my family. Thanks in advance for the info. :wave2:

Oh yea! Fluffy folks everywhere. More fluff than buff :thumbsup2 Don't worry you'll never see them again anyway. That's what I tell myself just before I take the plunge down the waterslide :rotfl2:

There are people of all shapes and sizes at the water parks. Don't worry about what others think about you, just enjoy your vacation. It's not a beauty contest there, it's family oriented. I would say that peoplel of all sizes could go on most of the water slides. The last time we went, we had small children so i don't know about the slides that do not allow small children.

More fluff than buff! Funny!

Seriously, people are so busy looking for their family members, they aren't looking at you.

Go, don't worry and enjoy yourself. I don't know anyone that feels great in a bathing suit.

I'm fluffy, pooh sized, all of the above. I think that the only place on earth that I feel comfortable is at Disney. I absolutely  Typhoon Lagoon. I love the lazy river and love the wave pool. I used to worry so much about this stuff until I read this link from Allearsnet.com. This lady had me in stitches! I love her honesty and her ability to make me laugh. Her graphic details are a riot! Here's her story and again if she is reading this I thank her from the bottom of my heart!

Enjoy the read:

I am 5'8" and weigh close to 350, with a very large tummy and ample bosom. My husband is 6'3" and has a nice, big belly. My one issue here was the inner tubes. Let's just say that after struggling with the inner tube for an unreasonable amount of time, TWO WOMEN FROM ENGLAND had to help me get in it. I was blushing so badly! Did I mention that my tummy was bigger than the rest of my body? Well, bigger = heavier, and the weight of my stomach, chest, and upper body tilted me back so far in the innertube that my legs were literally UP IN THE AIR LIKE TWO STICKS and my back was on the water, with my head dragging behind me. I could not see where I was going and could only see people behind me upside-down and trying politely not to laugh. My husband laughed so hard I almost divorced him right there on the spot!!! I then tried to flop onto the inner tube stomach first, which left my butt up in the air now, and my face smack in the water!! I STILL couldn't see where I was going and my husband was laughing EVEN HARDER when I finally gave up. So we went to the wave pool instead, where I didn't need an innertube to float. :>)

Here's another link to the website that you may want to view:

Have fun and make Disney memories for you! Hours after you've been there people will not remember seeing you there but you will remember the fun for a lifetime! :sunny:

I think most waterpark guests quickly learn not to feel self-conscious and are mostly busy having a good time. Let's face it, some of the positions we find ourselves in there are not the most graceful for anyone - getting into innertubes, for example, or trying to dislodge an atomic wedgie.

Thanks a bunch for the water park info. Maybe now I can look forward to a day at Typhoon Lagoon instead of wanting to hide out in the room. You all made me feel much more at ease. Look out water slides - here I come! :cool1:

I am on the fluffy side as well, don't let it get to you. You are never going to see any of them again, and I agree that most are playing and having fun with family, and not paying attention to what others look like.

There is 10x more fluff then buff in North America these days :thumbsup2

Do not worry about what others think of you, if anything, take it in stride, because people come in all shapes and sizes.

Anyone of any shape or size can enjoy any Disney water park, and I highly recommend them.

Soon, everyone everywhere will be more then fluffy if America continues on the twinkie trail :teeth:

I'm on the fluffy side and there's nothing to worry about at all. Lots of us "mother hen" and "retired rooster" builds out there! :goodvibes

Okay, another fluffy DISer here, LOL! My DH literally had to drag me to the mall in FL to buy a bathing suit because I hadn't been in one for years (a bathing suit, not a mall... ;) ) and didn't have one that fit...and the family wanted to go to Blizzard Beach. I was VERY reluctant to go to BB, but it turned out to be one of the best days we've had on any trip! We all had a blast, me included, and I'm looking forward to our next water park visit.

Go...and have a great time! :cool1:

Thanks to the OP for asking this question, and thanks to all of y'all for answering it. I have wondered about this myself. We skipped the water parks on our first trip. I haven't even been to Schlitterbahn, a waterpark about an hour from my house. I looked and looked at every picture I could find to see if I could see one, just one, pooh-sized woman, and have concluded that I would be the only one there. I may reconsider now! :goodvibes

There's a big difference between places like Schlitterbahn and the Disney parks . . . local water parks (I know Schlitterbahn is a major park, but it's rarely a destination in and of itself on the scale of a place like disney) attract a lot of people who are there for the buff, not the fluff. The disney parks have people of all walks of life, builds, etc. and you will see plenty of moms who definitely look like we've had kids, and dads whose kids are now old enough to bring him plenty of Cheetos, as well as folks who are larger for health reasons. It's all good there!

Oh hon--go to Schlitterbahn! My family consists of fluffy adults and buff teenagers--we all had a great time! No one cares as much as you do regarding how you look. And Schlitterbahn is a great park! Don't miss out on the fun for fear of some pudge!
We also hit the waterparks at the Wisconsin Dells regularly, in addition to those at WDW. Life's too short to be stuck in a room. Besides, think of all the calories we burn manuevering in and out of those darn inner tubes!
Wear your sunscreen! :sunny:

Ahem. Trust me, the lifeguard aren't going to be talking about you in the break room unless you go down Summit Plummet and lose your top. Or if you have an extremely large beer gut that hangs so far over your Speedo, we weren't sure you were actually wearng a Speedo... Or, well, there's inappropriate things we've seen that can't be discussed here. That's the kind of stuff that gets you noticed at BB. Not fluff. :)

You have nothing to worry about! You see all shapes and sizes at the water parks. You are not going to embarass your family...they love you! I feel most confident at Disney because I will never see those people again. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is seeing men in speedo's...buff or big they are WAY to revealing for me...I prefer to keep some "things" a mystery! :rotfl:

Do you want to have fun, or impress people you don't know and will never see again??? :confused3 fuhgeddaboutit, hang ten and cowabunga dude!! :cool1:

pooh sized??? fluffy??? never heard those before - funny :rotfl2: . Never would have considered myself 'fluffy'. gotta tel dw about that one - I like it. Ah I get it now - pooh - 'stuffed with fluff' - fluffy - hey college wasnt wasted on me!!!!! :woohoo:

Being fluffy myself I know the whole swim suit thing is an ordeal. :crazy2: Have y'all seen the Tankinis from Land End?
