Any experiences with WDW Car Care Center shuttle to resorts?

I'd like to hear about experiences with the shuttle service from the WDW Car Care Center to a WDW resort.

I understand we should make a reservation for the shuttle a day ahead of time. What if we get to the Car Care Center earlier than we scheduled - will we just have to wait around? What if we get there later than scheduled - are we out of luck and have to call a cab?

We are staying at BCV. I'm thinking it may be worth the extra $20 for a reservation with a return to the Dolphin next door rather than the Car Care Center. Any thoughts?

We are looking to do the same. Staying at the Yacht Club and only want a car for the middle portion of our stay. How does the shuttle to Car Care Center work, or is it just better to go to the Dolphin?

Bump! I'd like to know the answer to this as well. We are thinking of renting from National @ MCO and returning the car after 1-2 days to either the Dolphin or the WDW CCC. Any out there with experiences they would care to share?

We rented a car from the National rental car here on our last trip. I think it's located just after you drive through the gate on your way to the TTC. (not 100% sure though) We called them the day before and they told us what time they would send someone to pick us up the next day... They met us at the main entrance of our resort and took us directly there. When we dropped the car back off a few days later they took us to Epcot. (we could have gone anywere) I think we waited like 10 min after we dropped off our car before they were ready for us.

On World Drive right after you exit the TTC (MK parking lot). There is a Gas Station there also, as well as a AAA office.

What exactly is WDW care care and what function does it perform? I have never heard of it before

We have not arranged car hire for our upcoming trip as we are intending for the most part to rely on the busses but might want to spread our wings for the odd day or two and travel a bit further afield. Could we use this to arrange for car hire at short notice - or have I totally misunderstood?

The Car Care Center is another option for pickup and/or dropoff for car rentals from either National or Alamo. The center is on WDW property near MK and has a shuttle service to get you to/from your car rental. National's website shows the hours as 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The only time we dropped off a car at the Car Care Center, it was after hours. The building was accessible and there were instructions for dropping off the car after hours. If I remember, we put the keys in an envelope, time-stamped the return time, and dropped it in a secured box. We were able to get in the building to call a cab and use the restroom.

There is also a desk for National and Alamo at the WDW Dolphin where you can pick up or drop off a car. The hours at the Dolphin are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

I'd still like to hear more experiences on arranging and using the shuttle service. I think I'll call the Car Care Center and see what i can find out about the shuttle service, and I'll post back later.

BTW - National's website shows the phone number for the Walt Disney Car Care Center as (407) 824-3470 and for the Walt Disney Dolphin as (407) 934-4930.

I contacted the Car Care Center for information about the shuttle service. The service is only for on-site WDW resorts. If you are dropping off your rental car at the Car Care Center, you do not need a reservation for the shuttle. If you need to be picked up at your WDW resort to get to the Car Care Center for your car rental, you need to call at least an hour in advance of your desired pick-up time.

If anyone has conflicting information, please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi Mickey Magic -

We did this earlier this year and yes, it does, work as you where told. We were very happy with the service.

I called the night before to arrange for an 8:00 am pickup. When we dropped the car off the shuttle was available to take us anywhere in the "World".
