Any Experience with WDW/Local Medical Care?

So, my fiancee has been asking to to back to WDW.

Has anybody had experience receiving medical care while on vacation there? I remember reading horror stories in the newspaper of hospitals that don't recognize the legal documents that were supposed to give a partner visitation and decision rights and then the partner dies alone while the love of their life is only hundreds of feet away. Does this happen in the WDW area too since Florida doesn't recognize gay marriages? Is there a bubble of safety around WDW because of having so many gays there that all the homophobic health care workers have migrated elsewhere?

We are youngish (20s), so any advice would be appreciated regarding what we should do in general to protect ourselves. I'm working on having her medical history with me at all times, but her biological relatives are all out of the country, only one speaks English, and most consider her medical condition to be God's punishment for her wicked ways of falling in love and choosing to be with me...not exactly the people who should be in charge of her medical decisions.

Medicare regulations now state that any hospital which participates in the Medicare program must allow patients to designate ANYONE THEY WANT to be present with them, and to make decisions for them. You should, however, still have rock-solid Healthcare Powers of Attorney documents - there are boilerplate ones available at Staples and such places, or online, but if you can afford it, a custom one drawn up by an attorney is better. Also, know the phone number for the local Medicare office wherever you're traveling; if the hospital gives you a hard time, threaten to call Medicare immediately (or when the office is next open).

My girlfriend and I were married in Massachusetts in 2008, where I'm originally from. Florida recognizes the marriage if you were married in a state where it's legal.
HOWEVER.......
I've been told in hospitals, it may be a good idea if we brought the marriage license as proof! God forbid one of us has an emergency and forgets the certificate.......lol
I am going for surgery next month, and asked if my wife could stay in the hospital with me for the few days I'll be there, I was told no problem, they have Murphy beds in each room so someone can stay......
My advice, don't wind up in the hospital....have a safe, happy trip!
