Because of my plans and limited time my boyfriend and I are planning on taking cabs several times during our trip to get to various ADR seatings... does anyone know if they are reliable? I know the cost $ but I am more worried about time. I don't want to waste 90 minutes going from one hotel to another. Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, we often use taxis to get from one resort to another quickly. They are reliable. In some cases they are standing outside the hotel, other times the desk will call one for you if you give them 10-15 minutes notice.

Our only experience with a WDW cab was not a good one. Last January we needed to get to the Richard Petty Driving Experience early in the morning, so had the guy at AKL get us a cab. We told him as we were getting in where we needed to go and he nodded. Once we were in the cab, he then asked us where the RPDE was at. Huh! We're from Texas, he's from Orlando and driving a cab at WDW and he asks us where it's located! We told him somewhere over by MK and in broken English he told us oh yeah he had seen that before. Needless to say we got lost even though all four of us were looking for signs. We saw the sign first, but he had already passed it, so had to circle around again. It cost us $20.00, with him getting lost. His driving also scared us to death. My son said he wasn't near as nervous about driving the race car as he was getting out of that cab alive. He drove fast, weaved in and out of traffic, centered two lanes frequently, and blew his horn at other drivers, talking to us in broken English the whole time.

Have you ever seen the movie where Bill Crosby is scared out of his body by a wild cab driver and becomes a ghost? That movie quickly popped into my mind, with the thought that that wild cab driver in the movie had relocated to Orlando.

Your son drove fast, weaved in and out ... Isn't that the way participants in Richard Petty are supposed to drive?

Let's start a fad! Make companies bear more of the costs and consequences of workers who do not understand English.

Cab driver gets lost or "gets lost". Isn't that the time to pay a smaller tip and definitely not a tip based on the inflated metered fare, and also write a complaint to the cab company, and also include comments about the driver's apparently not understanding English?

As a matter of fact my son didn't even get to drive that day as it was sprinkling rain pretty heavily by the time we got there and the RPDE was cancelled. The fact that the cab driver didn't speak English well didn't bother us, it was the fact that we had to pay for him getting lost and his wild driving that annoyed us. After we were told that the RPDE was cancelled, my 8 y/o GD said "I'm not getting back in that cab, I'll walk first, that guy was crazy." Thankfully the RPDE people drove us back to our resort in their vans.

We needed to get from the BWI to the Cali Grill for ADR. The concierge advised us to take a cab because the bus would take 1-1 1/4 hours. eek
He called down, got us a cab ,we were there in 7 min. It was $10 including tip, and we were very happy. Deb :Pinkbounc
