Any DVC folks have family/friends that have done the College Program at Disney?

Our daughter was in the College Program a few years ago and loved it. We also used that great discount to add on at BLT.

What is the discount? When I click on the link on the college program page I can't get the page to come up.

Our DD went for "one semester" and ended up staying 2 1/2 years! 10 years later she is still a seasonal CM. Great experience, and when you put Disney on your resume it opens doors.

At the time the discount was 15% + any other discounts offered to general public, but it is has been 20% at times

You laugh, but that's what I told my wife I was going to do when I retire.

My son did the program Fall semester 2009. It was a great experience for him and it has been a great boon for him on the resume. In fact, he just accepted a new job today and the interviewer was so impressed they talked about Disney for 30 minutes.

He didn't make hardly any money and hours were long and sometimes until early in the morning. But he really dug it and I think it built some character. He did say there was a lot of drinking in the living areas though and actually was reassigned because he was worried about being kicked out. His girlfriend was doing the program with him and he didn't want to get sent packing because come on, what an great place to be young and in love

my son did the college program from 1/2010thru8/2010. He worked at the Contemporary as a bell services dispatcher. He absolutely loved it. He also was deployed to the Grand Floridian when they needed the help. He now is the campus rep at his college making him still a castmember with all his entitlements. He hopes to do the summer alumni program this year. He also wants to do the professional internship when he is a jr in college. I visited three times while he was there on my dvc points. What an excuse to go!!!

Our daughter is going to apply for the Fall 2011 semester. She is SUPER excited. She eats, breathes and sleeps DISNEY. She is a sophomore in college now and is majoring in Mass Communications with a PR track and will also get a certificate in Marketing. Her ultimate dream is TO WORK FOR DISNEY ESPECIALLY DVC. Our DVC guide told her back in Jan. of 07 to let him know once she is college and he would do what he could to help her get on the right path. I would love to hear more if you have a son/daughter or relative that has done it. Shoot maybe some of you have done it?!!! If she makes it through the web interview/phone interview she plan to go down for an audition. She is a dancer (well she has danced since she was 3 and does not dance all the time like in high school, but she still takes classes in college) and would love to to get a dancing type role for the internship. Did you plan visits staying in a DVC resort while they were there doing the program? THANKS for any information.

I just copied and pasted this in a message to her on Facebook. She AGREED ..you both have so much in common. We are going to Disney in Jan. and we can't wait to go back. The little picture (avatar) is my dd when she was in high school. We took that picture of her when we were staying at BCV. She has said since we bought in Jan. 07 her 10th grade year...THAT SHE WANTED TO WORK FOR DVC one day.

Our older son did the Disney College Program, and then a little later, an Internship. It was great for all of us, even before we joined DVC. He has had a wonderful career in Hotel Management, and now expanded into related areas.

The highest compliment to how the Disney Organization is thought of in the world is this simple fact.... He has never sent a resume in the mail or online without getting an almost immediate response. I don't think you can say more than that, especially with some of the economic turmoil the world has been through lately.

GOOD LUCK to her too!!! My daughter is applying next semester for Fall of 2011. There is another girl in her sorority whose parents are also DVC members...she is also applying. I hope they all make it in.

My roommate in collage did it and had a blast! He was a monorail driver. Good opportunity to see many "Best Practices" in action.
