Any DVC folks go to a spring training game at Wide World of Sports?

We are Orioles fans and they are playing the Braves on property during our spring break trip. We have never been to a spring training game. Are these as much fun as going to games during regular season? Worth the money???

It's basically a Minor League game. You might see some stars for a few innings at the most. I'm not sure how much admission is to a Braves spring training game. I wouldn't pay more than $10.

I am KIND of on the fence. We pretty much JUST DO PARKS PARKS PARKS and stuff at the resort we stay at when we visit Disney. We can go to the O's games here for actually cheaper than the ticket prices for the spring training games. My 16 year old is like "hmmm whatever" He could care less and hubby is kinda feeling the same way. :rolleyes1

We went several years ago and had a good time. The stars only played a little bit but it was still fun. We thought we could get some autographs but we didn't.

I love going to Spring Training games - already have tickets for 3 games when my family heads down in March.

ST goes until (almost) the end of the first week of April this year. If you catch games in the last week or two, the rosters will mirror quite closely the team that will be fielded when the regular season starts. The earlier you go, the greater the likelihood that you will see significantly more minor leaguers than major league players.

You're also more likely to see major leaguers playing for the home side - most teams will leave the bulk of their veterans at camp, rather than making them ride the bus.

Have I said how much I love going to Spring Training??????

Last year we caught the Jays and Tigers at Lakeland, and the Braves and Nationals at Wide World of Sports. They are each great ballparks -- I love spring training because it takes you out of the 'arena ball' kind of experience. As I recall, we paid about $30 a ticket for seats at the top level behind home plate.

I joked with DH that we were able to see pretty much every pitcher the teams could dress.

At Wide World of Sports we had a car, which was helpful because it's hard to get to otherwise. If you're staying on property and don't have your own transportation, I'd take a taxi.

On an earlier trip, we stayed at Vero Beach and drove up to Space Coast Stadium to see the Nationals and Tigers. Weird location for a ballpark, but its easy to get to.

We went to an Astros Game in 2004. I remember that because it was Roger Clemens first year with the Astros. He pitched the day we went, all of 2 innings. By the 3/4 innings it was a lot of players wearing #73 or #92 or whatever.

I really enjoy baseball, so it was worth it for that reason alone. But going to see a lot of great players is probably a waste of time.

We go every year. Great atmosphere. (Plus we live in Atlanta and are Braves fans) We do travel to Arizona for several Spring Training games as well.

Nothing like a day at the ball park!

We saw the Yankees play the Braves two years ago at Wide World of Sports. We had a great time.

We were able to see the Red Sox play the Braves. DH was in a wheelchair so we got handicapped seating near 3rd base on the railing. It was in the sun, cost about $50 but we couldn't get anywhere near that at Fenway. Oh, the Sox lost, but Napoli had some great plays. We drove our rental car over. Because it was the Sox the tickets cost a bit more.

Saw Red Sox Braves. It was the best! For $50 I got a 3rd row seat third base side of home plate. So close I could count Big Papi's nose hairs! LOL Never gonna get a seat like that at Fenway.

We saw the Phils play the Braves there a few years ago and loved it! I have pics in my signature from a mini trip report.
We had such a great time.
