Just wondering if we have any other "older" Mom's here on the board. I had my DS at 35 and my DD at 39. We had a surprise very short pregnancy earlier this year...(pregnant one day...period two days later..I had the same thing before I had my DS) We were ok about it because it was unexpected and our family was "done".

....so why at the age of 43 am I looking at babies again? My best friend had her daughter 9 weeks ago and DH's brother & his wife had a little boy 3 months ago. Neighbor across the street had a DD 11/1 and we are waiting for two other neighbors to have theirs any day now. Babies everywhere! And why on earth am I having this baby fever???? All the baby stuff is gone...we are a family of four...in our own routines.. WHEN DOES ALL THIS BABY STUFF END??

Ok, I'm calm now...just wondering if any other DISers have gone through this.

I'm going to bed now... :)

I am thinking of babies as well and I am 46, but I am looking at grandkids. My dd is trying to get pregnant. This would be my 3rd grandchild. The first one was born when I was 38, and the 2nd one was when I was 43. My own baby though is 22. I love having grandchildren. They are so much fun, and they love to see you but when they get cranky they go home to their Mum & Dad. LOL

I was 41 when my last one was born. I still get baby pangs, but I think she is my last, although if I got preganant again I'd be very happy.

Not me but my mother started over and had 2 boys at 40 and 43. With my first brother my sister was in college and I was a senior in high school, and she had a bad pregnancy requiring surgery when 4 1/2 months preg., BUT she decided she wanted to do it again and had my second brother at 43 (actually 2 months shy of)

My MIL had her last baby at the age of 40. DH was an only child until he was a senior in high school. Now he has brothers who are 9 and 7 and a sister who's 5. She's an excellent mom, and now that I'm pregnant, I can ask her questions better than I can ask my own mom, since my mom hasn't had a baby in 24 years. It's hard for my mom to remember stuff about her pregnancy, and besides, a lot of stuff has changed since then. People think it's funny when I tell them that my brothers- and sister-in-law are so young, but I think it's neat.

It was funny when DH and I were engaged and we went out with his family. One time my MIL had to nurse her baby while we were out, and some people started looking at her. She was surprised since she always did it modestly and wasn't used to having people look at her. I don't think she realized that the people were probably just surprised because they thought that I was the one who should be nursing the baby. :teeth:

It's nice to see some older moms out there! I had my first at 30, #2 at age 33 and #3 at age 39. We're done but I know what you mean about the baby pangs. My DS is 2 and a hand full! Most of the Moms at my kids' school started in their early 20's , so I always feel like the "older" mom. I don't mind it though. But think of it this way, if you have a baby when you are 43, you'll be 50 with a 7 yr old! Not necessarily a bad thing if you have lots of energy!!

Well I had my first at 25, my second at 30 and my third and last at 37. For me the pregnancy at 25 was much easier than the later two. The last pregnancy was extremely difficult and I delivered 5 1/2 weeks early. I'm not saying I would have changed anything but I couldn't imagine having another one now at 42. I am thankful my family is complete and I am past the stage of wanting another.

I have a few friends that had their first at the time I had my third and they did fine.
