Any disadvantage to a room only stay and add tickets

So I have a package booked- CR tower bay view(six nights), with 6 day park hoppers and free dining

price is $3591

I just priced it out with a room only discount ($2255) plus six day park hoppers and added dining and the total is $3322 (a savings of about $270).

Am I missing out on anything by doing the room only route? I've only done packages in the past. Anything I need to know?

I think it depends on which resort/room category you choose.

I had Poly booked 10/10-10/17 (garden view) with a 1 day park hopper (x2) and regular dining plan (x2) and my total was $4096...with the new discount rate today, the same package is $3222, so that's about $874 in savings.

Price of ticket and dining stayed the same, and if I had just added free dining, would have only saved $560.

Maybe your savings isn't as great since it's a tower/ bay lake view?

I have the same question! I just called and had my package priced out using the room only discount. The CM didn't say anything about my package changing as far as date that it had to be paid, etc, but now I am wondering.....

Anyone know the answer to this??

I made a very similar change this morning (5 nights CR theme park view). The bottom line is "room only" plus "tickets" plus "dining" is the same as "room plus tickets with free dining" as far as what service you're getting. And since the second option is $270 less, that strikes me as the thing to do.

They're both techically "pacakged" together (in that your park tickets and dining will be on your KTTW card). It's just that you're putting together a slightly more economical package yourself by taking advantage of the reduced room rate, rather than taking advantage of the free dining.

Nope. Your ADRs are fine.

One thing your not mentioning in here is your transportation to and from the Airport if your Flying. The package includes this expense. Just a thought! I know it's still probably cheaper splitting it out but I just like knowing it's all done in one transaction.

I am sure I read that ME is available (free) to anyone who is staying in a WDW Resort... I don't think you have to have the package....

Absolutely untrue. Of course you can use ME if you book room only. It's a different way to book. (It's not second class.)

I spoke to a CM and it appears the only difference is by doing room only you don't get the mini-golf, the Planet Hollywood coupon and the discount on wave runner rentals.

For our particular itenerary it is better to do room only, and add tickets and DDP.

I was able to upgrade to a CR Atrium Level room versus tower bay lake view and still save $100 (which will pay for my round trip town car).

I can't wait!
