Any deals for April Alamo car rentals?

So I booked my flights today. On to the next obsession- getting a good car rental deal. We always rent from Alamo so I'll be checking mousesavers etc for codes.

Anyone know of good deals?

I booked my car rental with Budget, back in May. We travel from April 14-24, starting at Sanford. The cost for a compact car, for that time frame, was $324. I thought that was outrageous..until I just checked the same time frame last week...it had almost doubled!!! I would imagine that with so many school vacations in April, the car rental companies can really raise the price..supply and demand at it's best.

I seem to find the best deals a month or two before my trip. If you're definitely renting a car, I'd find the best deal available now and book it so you have something. Then, keep looking for discounts over the next few months. Good luck!

Holy smokes! I checked Alamo and all the cars are over $600 for that week! Even compacts I tried using my Annual pass code but that didn't help at all. Guess I'll keep checking.

Did the same thing--booked SWA today and went to book the car at Alamo. Jaw hit the floor when I saw that 8 days for a full-size was well over $700!!!! Are trying DME for the first time this Nov.--hope we like it, 'cause we might be taking it in April, too.

I tried every code available for Alamo, and nothing made the price drop. Does it hold true for EAster week as well that prices come down 1-2 months before? Or are they just outrageously high that week, period?

I would be surprised if the rates come down much for that time frame. But you can book something now, and hope for the best. Or even try Priceline when you get closer.

I usually book now for the cheapest rate I can get for Alamo and then re-book as I find codes that make it cheaper. They don't usually start off this high though. I've never been during Easter week before so I don't know if they will go down at all.

I checked Dollar today based on someone's post and it seemed much cheaper but I don't know much about them.

Anyone have an opinion about Dollar? Do they have a kiosk for check-in like Alamo?

Booked airfare today too. Did not expect to be going this year. Now I need to find a car!!

You can try the new Alamo/Enterprise booking trick - add an hour. Make sure your rental times are not 2pm to 2pm etc. Try 2pm to 3pm. The rates are much lower for 7 days and one hour rather than just 7 days. It seems to be true for most rental dates in April.

I've never used Dollar but did plug in my dates..same type car, same times and it was only $35 less than Budget. Guess I'll just stick with Budget.
