Any chance the new avatar land will open earlier?

Our last day in the parks will be may 26, and the opening is may 27... would have loved to see it, and we probably won't make it down to disney again for a while...

However, there will be press events happening for the new land just prior to its opening.

Historically what is Disney's history with soft openings? We are going to be a WDW from 5/21 to 5/26, and are currently planning to be at AK on the 23rd, but could easily flop that to the 26th. We could obviously make the change if we find out once we get there, but with FP+ we would kinda like to know now.

We are hoping for a "soft" opening also, but since our last day is the 22nd we're not very optimistic. We were able to ride 7DMT during it's soft opening, so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Yep press event from May 21-27. Pandora of course will be the main thing featured for them.

This! Softs basically just happen with no pre-planned announcements. Sometimes they are for regular guests, sometimes for AP/DVC and sometimes there are no softs.

It varies.

But, it only affects the park where it takes place.

And, depending on the time that it takes place and the size of the festivities, it should only affect a specific AREA of that park.
