Any chance Mr. Toad's Wild Ride will replace the Winnie the Pooh ride?

With the conflict with WDW and Winnie the Pooh folks, I was wondering if this could affect the ride. That would be great. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was one of my favorites.

I sure hope not, because the Pooh ride is one of my favorites. I mean no disrespect for those that liked Mr. Toads Wild Ride, I just prefer the Pooh ride - they've needed a Pooh ride for sometime, and I was so glad when it was finally added.

I must've missed something -- what conflict are you referring to?

While I like both rides I, too prefer the ride portion of Winnie the Pooh.

If they were going to replace it with MTWR, wouldn't it have made more sense just to leave MTWR there in the first place?

probably just girl logic

Apparently Walt Disney Company and those who own the rights to Winnie the Pooh and had a legal battle and are going separate ways.

Is there anywhere I could read some more info on this pooh issue, maybe a link to another website?

Thanks

go to google.com

in the search field, put in: pooh disney legal

you'll get a ton of info

It has been going on for over ten years now. From what I have seen and read over the years, in my opinion, they will not part ways when this is all over. That has just been used as a threat by SSI (the property rights holders).

It really would not be in either party's interest to end the deal. No one in the world could even do half as well at marketing Pooh than Disney. Parting ways could do more damage to the Pooh name than it could the Disney name. Todays market is a lot different than it was when Disney started with Pooh. It could end up hurting Disney's bottom line though.

My very first time at WDW was Dec. 1993. If they had Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at that time, I would have gone on it.
I missed it. When did it close ? As a matter of fact, I don't even recall the *character* of Mr. Toad. Does anyone have a gif of Mr. Toad to post ?

I have seen the new Pooh ride. IMO.....It is cute, but not worth waiting a long time.

My first visit to WDW was in Nov. 1993, around Thanksgiving time. I'm almost positive Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was open then, because I have memories of riding it. We didn't return to WDW until 09/2001 and it was gone then I believe.

HTH,

Sue

I only remember riding Mr. Toad's Wild Ride because it was the only ride without a line so we road it a whole bunch of times. I don't remember it being anything to write home about.

I thought it was funny because all within the space of a couple of minutes you go court, go to jail, break out of jail, get hit by a train, die, and end up in Hell.

I'm STILL trying to figure out what the big deal was about Mr. Toad's Wild Ride .... Winnie The Pooh is a much better ride.

Winnie the Pooh will continue to be a Disney staple because there is too much money in it for Disney and the rights holder. They will figure out how to better divvy the dollars (IMO).

I was a big Mr Toad fan but the attraction theme was not understood by young people who don't know about Mr Toad. Since Disney hasn't planned anything new around Mr. Toad...

While I road Mr. Toad's Wild Ride as a child and young adult and thought it was cute, I much prefer the Winnie-the-Pooh ride. But that's also probably due to the fact I know the Pooh Bear storyline. I've never have known the story of Mr. Toad.

For those who may not know, the tale of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was told in the Disney animated movie "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" (1949). Mr. Toad's story was in the first half of the movie.

The second half of the movie tells the tale of Ichabod Crane and The Headless Horseman one Halloween in Sleepy Hollow (Tarrytown), New York State.

Now THAT would make a really cool scary ride at WDW!

That's essentially the whole ride! They still have it at DL, and of course it is WONDERFUL. We just love Mr. Toad! :p

I don't think that Pooh will be *ousted* due to a conflict between Disney and the A.A. Milne reps, but if for some reason Pooh does *get the boot* I'd LOVE to see Mr. Toad return! In the meantime, we'll enjoy the Heffelumps and Woozles!

Mr. Toad is close to the top of my list for DL next week! My older (now adult) children were discussing it, and recalled they really didn't get the "hell" part of the ride, and were scared at ages 8 and 5. They were familiar with the movie, too.
