Any Canadians Out There who have booked through Disney

If you book through Disney by phone what tax do they charge you. Is it Canadian tax?

I booked through them for my trip from vancouver to WDW in September (flew out of seattle), they didn't charge me canadian tax, but i did pay florida tax. If you go through on their website and set it up, select your hotel, airfare etc, then have them call you with the button that lets you do that at the end, you pay the same price it reads on the websites, its of course USD.

We booked through Disney Last year. You actually have to pay 12.5% on the hotel and 6.5% on tickets. If you are booking a package with insurance and dining plan there is no extra tax of those.

I booked online through the Disney website. I found it to be the best way for 2 reasons.

1) I could change my plans easily if a promo came up by calling into Disney and making the change.

2) We are a family of 5 so the price was up there. We booked way ahead ( Aug 05 for the Feb 06 trip). You paid the deposit when we booked, then as long as it is paid of by 30 days before the trip ..... you can pay as you like. So when the Cdn $ is up I paid on the trip. Best no interest plan that I know of!!

When you book anything that is US based they do not charge cnd tax. Only flights coming out of canada would have cnd taxes.. We use the walt disney travel company evry trip now, why should I use a travel agent if I can do it myself.

I use a TA so I can pay via debit and have no hassles when there are airfare issues. (like when Canjet blew up in my face). My TA refunded the money and booked me a new flight right away. We even saved $320 and used part of it to book an additional night at disney.

True you will have TICO on your side but your credit card also will back you up, if a service you paid for doesnt happen they will refund it for you. We also had that with Canjet and while it took a while it was back on my CC. I just guess I am a "type A" and need to know that its booked and that its all done and I have it all infront of me.

See, with the TA it took one day for her to buy a new flight for me, and then her company waited for the refund. That and the fact that I have a $500 limit on my CC (never before had a need for larger) means I really can't book or pay for airfare myself.
