Any Canadian Crusiers out there?

I have done the WOnder 3 times now and am booked for the Magic transatlantic next month.
I think that you have to be in the Walt Disney Theatre at 6 am. Everyone must go! The line looks long but it moves quickly. We alway go back to bed after.

Just booked 4 nights for March break 2008. This will be our 4th cruise with DCL. May try to do back to back if work schedule allows.

not any longer........we woke up at 645am, went to breaky and cleared customs with everyone else.

We did a 4 day Disney cruise in the fall 2005.:thumbsup2 We loved cruising so much we took my Dad on a Carnival Alaska cruise. Carnival is nice they do some stuff I wish Disney would do eg. 24 hour Ice cream but hands down Disney wins. Two bathrooms areas, way way way better shows, free pop (when we went don’t know about now), also Disney just made you feel special. I love Castaway Cay:love: . My husband would like to go to Alaska again and if one of Disney’s new ships are going to be going there I’ll save the money and pay the extra cost to go Disney:cheer2: . I wish I would have found out about the Panama Canal Cruise sooner because I would have booked it in a heart beat (it was sold out by the time I knew about it:sad: ).

I am going on a Disney cruise with my mom in December 2008. I am a bit unsure how clearing Customs/Immigration will work for us as my mom is an American citizen with an American passport but she lives in Canada. I am Canadian with a Canadian passport. Would she clear Immigration with me early in the morning since she lives in Canada or will she not have to because she is American?? Just wondering if any of you would know the answer to this.:confused3

The early morning clearing of immigration for non American citizens seems to be a thing of the past. :thumbsup2

No one has to get up early in the morning to do that any longer.

It's about time Disney decided to change their way of dealing with this.

you will wake up in the morning, go to breakfest at the restraunt that you dined at the night before at the time you are assigned, then head off the ship. you both will clear customs at that point. if you have passports you are lucky. they have a line just for people with passports. we zipped right through. there are no more early morning meets for non-US pirate: 's

:Pinkbounc: Another Canadian cruiser here! A girlfriend and I were on the 11-night Southern Caribbean on the Wonder last September, and I loved it sooo much that I booked a cruise for my hubby and me while still onboard: DH and I are on the 7-night Eastern Caribbean on the Magic later this year (Oct 27th departure). Twelve weeks today! This will be hubby's 1st ever cruise, and my 2nd cruise :)

I'm so glad to hear the 6 am customs thing is gone! That was such a drag! My girlfriend and I both went in our pj's; it was way too early for us.

I must also second the idea of going to Palo's. It's excellent! My girlfriend and I did dinner there, and brunch. And DH and I will be having our anniversary dinner there this fall. I can't wait!

We are going on our first DC in Febuary. We are spending from Feb 7-14 at POR and then Feb 14-17 on the Wonder . So happy to not have to get up early for the immigration thing :yay: . So you no longer have to turn over your passport? Another question is do you need your passport to get back on the ship in Nassau?

I just read a recent" navigator " someone posted for a three day cruise ( I think it was for July 2007) and on the WELCOME HOME Navigator, just under the breakfast rotation it said:

CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION - PASSPORT CONTROL

U.S and BORDER PROTECTION requires all Non -U.S. Guests and those Guests who joined us in Naussau or Castaway Cay, to present themselves personally for inspection upon arrrival into Port Canaveral. Please bring your passport receipt with you. If this applies to you, please meet in the Walt Disney Theatre, Deck 4 , Forward, tomorrow morning at 6:00 am.

So .... do you think that it still applies?:confused3
Maybe they only take pasports on longer cruises?

I know a few of you have posted that you DID NOT have to do this anymore... Did it say the same thing in your navigators? I would love to know from someone who has recently cruised , and had it listed in their navigator...
Man , 6 am is early....
And if I have a 6:30 or 7:00 breakfast , what if I don't make it? ( Customs took to long..) Do you get to go somewhere else instead , or do you just miss breakfast?

So many questions.....:rotfl2:

we were on the 4 day wonder cruise and returned on the 19th of July. At that date, non US passengers DISembarked at the same time as US passengers. We did not have to attend any thing on the last morning other than breakfest at the rest. we ate dinner at the night before. we did not have to turn over our passports and all we needed to get into the ports and back on the ships was photo ID and our KTTW card.
because we had passports, we were wisked right through customs and the complete process from leaving breaky to sitting in our car in the terminal parking lot was about 10 minutes max.

Another Canadian cruiser here!

We did our first cruise in October of 2005. We did a 4 night cruise cause we weren't sure how we would like. Needless to say we loved it - our daughters still rave about it. Only downside was that on our first day out was when Hurricane Wilma went through. Hubby got a little seasick with those huge waves! However, once he put on one of those seasick patches he was fine and was even able to enjoy our brunch at Palo!

We are now booked for a 7 night cruise leaving on October 27th (Eastern). Cruising for Halloween! We are bringing along my Mom and a friend this time. We are all looking forward to another magically disney vacation!:dance3:

I have a question for those who were recently on a 4 day wonder. What nights were the shows? I'm trying to figure this out to book Flounders for the youngest. I saw a navigator posted from May and the shows were on the Monday, Tuesday, Wed. (not the first night; Sunday) I asked the TA but she says it changes?? I can see the shows change but why would the nights change? Any ideas? We have main seating and I was figuring on booking from 8-10 pm.

Since there has been confusion about whether or not Canadians still have to turn over their passports before boarding, I emailed DCL looking for an answer. I'm so glad I did :)

Since we cruise in late October, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed they don't end their experiment until AFTER my cruise ;)

This is the email sent to me from DCL:

Thank you for booking another Disney Cruise Line Vacation!

The U.S. Customs & Border Protection Agency has chosen Disney Cruise
Line to take part in a program that will streamline the immigration
process.

Effective Sunday, July 15th, in lieu of collecting passports from Guests
who are citizens of other countries all passports will now be swiped
into our system. This program will eliminate the need for the early
morning shipboard inspection for Guests who are citizens of other
countries on the morning of debark.

All Guests will be allowed to disembark the ship as early at 7:00 a.m.
and the inspection process will take place in the luggage hall after
luggage collection.

However, this program is only expected to last 90 to 120 days. Thus, it
may be possible it will revert back to the other process by the time you
sail with us.

We look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!

hopefully they will not change it back to the old way. the new way was working as far as I could see.

Hmm, that's interesting.

We sailed with Royal Caribbean out of Port Canaveral last November and we didn't have to give up our passports OR do any extra immigration lines.

I know of someone from England who cruised on the Disney Wonder in August and they did not have to give up their passports at that time.
