Hi! I am on the lookout for airfare now from either Kelowna or Vancouver for mid August. Does anyone here have past experience on what the lowest rate we may be looking at (seat sale?) Right now it is ridiculously expensive but I am holding off, hoping for a better deal. Right now I could book Alaska Air for $446.67 per person which is a whole lot better than Westjet's approx $700-800 Any experience out there? Thanks a bunch!:worship:

We've flown Westjet from Alberta using air miles, but I do know that Westjet very often has a half price sale, but generally when they post a sale, it seems to be for only a couple of months in the future, which is too bad. When they post a half off sale, a person can keep checking days on their website to find the day that has the lowest price. For example, you might check out from a Fri. to a Fri. and find out that only on the way there would you receive 50% off. But if you click on more days, you might see that a Thurs. - Thurs. would be 50% off both ways. I also know that when Westjet offers a 50% off sale, that Air Canada follows suit. I personally prefer Westjet over Air Canada. The seatback TVs are a nice added bonus!! Good luck!! I hope someone else will be able to post more details for you. Did the Alaskan Airlines price include taxes? I find it is the taxes that really make the flights $$$!

I'm not sure about August, but on May 8 we're flying Air Canada, Kelowna to L.A. through Vancouver, booked through Flight Centre with Infininity tour company for about $449 per person. This includes 5 nights at the Holiday Inn Resort as well. It also includes taxes! I thought that was a pretty good deal. You might want to check with them about August, although of course that is "high season" to go so the prices will be higher, obviously.

Good luck! We leave in 3 weeks and I'm so excited. We're surprising our girls with the trip and it's been so hard not to spill the beans!

I'm not sure if you have your hotel and all that booked but another great place to look out of vancouver is travelbestbets.com they were great! We used them last year and the prices wern't to bad, they incl... air fare, hotel, and shuttle from airport and back. We also bought park tickets through them.... the thing i really liked about them was, disney screwed up on my son's ticket so we called best bets 1-800 number (free) and they sent a fax with in like 20 minutes and worked everything out! We will be going with them again in '09! They also do other places for cheap too my mom and grandma went to cuba! If you call there offices they can work out everything and let you know a price and there not pushy for you to buy we called and got diffrent changes added 5-6 times (my grandpa saying hes coming then not then coming then not  old men lol ) and they were good about tell us the diffrent rates and everything! Just an idea we really like them, as they are always so helpful!

Hi, Have you tried going directly to Alaskan's web site and clicking on air deals? We are flying out of Vancouver to SNA next week with Alaskans "Kids fly and stay Free" We are staying for 1 week at BBPPI and the cost for 2 adults and 2 kids was $425.00 each before park hoppers and such. I know thay have extended the program till the end of Sept. They always give better deals going directly to them then through an agent I have found.

Good luck

hi there, we flew to DL in sept 07 and may 06...in sept we flew alaska and for our family of 5 and 10 nights at the HOJO it was 2750(not sure what the cost breakdown of motel and airfare was)...we went out of vancouver...in may of 06 we flew air canada for just over 1700 for the 5 of us...your price sounds quite high, i am sure u can get better...west jet always priced out high when i checked them, so i gave up on them...

Hi! When abouts exactly do you want to go? For Mid- August they are selling seats for Aircanada for $441 return & taxes included. That is cheap! When we want to go it will be $627.26 return and taxes included :scared1: . I think that if you can get it for $441, then that is a good deal IMHO.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone!!! I will check out the "Kids Fly Free" thing with Alaska! I hadn't checked Air Canada. Honestly, my past experiences with them haven't been great in the customer service department but I should give it a try again. I do prefer Westjets bigger planes, that's for sure! I will keep digging!!! August seems so far away!! I can't wait!:cool1:

You can also try BCAA. I was quoted $1100 for four of us for the end of May. Not sure which airline it was with.

Any British Columbians who have flown Westjet to LAX?
I just have to ask... How can you tell the difference between someone who is from the province of British Columbia and a British person from the country of Columbia? :rolleyes1

You ask them what is there residences biggest export. If they say Cannabis, they're from BC, if they say Cocaine, they're from the other place ;)

Those prices seem really high if they are just for airfare. Is that because you are crossing country lines? Prices from Seattle seem so much lower. Would it be an option for you to drive to Seattle and fly from there?

I really have no experience with that but I'm just thinking out loud.

This is the kind of airfare we pay to get anywhere from Canadian cities. Flying east to our nations' capital or the Atlantic provinces is even more expensive, so it's not about the boarder. Seattle is at least 5 hours from Kelowna which is in the interior of BC. You people DON'T KNOW :rolleyes1 how lucky you are to have access to Southwest, Jet Blue and your regional carriers that fly you almost for free.

To the OP, I'd be tempted by that +/- $400.00/per on Alaska Airlines. That would be a smoking deal from here in Calgary; ask about the "kids fly free" though before you book.

Air Canada currently has a seat sale (have to book by May 1st). Vancouver to LAX in August was $399 return-taxes included....I haven't seen it go much lower than that. Once in a blue moon they post a 1 day $99 one way fare, but not often.

Have you tried flying into Long Beach on Alaska Air? It's closer to Anaheim, and sometimes there're deals going to Long Beach on Alaska. Anyhow, it gives you another option to LAX, which I find to be a bit too busy, big and chaotic.

With the airfares those days you actually have to look almost everyday to get a deal.

I travel a lot and sometimes I can get lucky like next August I will be flying from Montreal to LAX, direct flight for 476$ per person taxes included with Air Canada. I got the special last december and it lasted on their website for about only 3 hours !

I have to say that although I like WestJet, I won't fly with them to LA because they fly via Calgary.
That is ridiculous for me. I can't imagine spending 7 hours just to get to LAX.
I'm still looking for a great airfare for December for 9 of us.
I should mention that I have airmiles that would pay for all of us but the flying through Calgary is a deal breaker for me at any price.

I find the same thing... everytime i look it up it gives me cheaper air fare but to have a stop somewhere..... I mean don't you think i would be cheaper to do a one way then have us taking up so many seats on diffrent planes :confused3

Well, we fly Alaska and have always found it the cheapest. In fact, we are flying out in June - 5 of us - for $1520 including all taxes! (CAD) We went at Christmas for $1830 including all taxes. The kids fly free is a great deal!

My friend just came back on Air Canada and they flew out of Vancouver for $1660 for 5 people (with tax).

Good luck!
