Any bladder cancer survivors?

I'm sending best wishes and :hug::hug::hug: your way. I'm on the Breast Cancer survivors thread and while I haven't gotten the "all clear" yet (that's quite a ways down the road), I'm still here :banana::cool1::yay::woohoo::dance3:.

I hope your surgery goes well and that you don't have to go through anything else. If you do, I took a mantra from one of the ladies on the B.C. thread - I fight like a girl!! Sock it to the Big C.

Thanks so much for all the positive stories and good wishes. I am being as positive as I can!

About a year ago I committed to doing the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk in Boston with a team. My best friend and her sister are the captains. My friend is a BC survivor and her sister (and also a good friend of mine) is a two time survivor. When I got my diagnosis I was thinking about dropping out of the walk since it is next weekend. Last night I made the decision that I am going - it is a commitment I made and I really want to do it. If I start bleeding again, I'll take the bus part of the day but I want to experience the walk and support all the breast cancer survivors I know! I told my team mates via e-mail and they are super supportive as well.

And I've heard from the two owners of the company I work for. They are also supporting me in whatever I need to do. So helpful not to have to worry about problems at work!

Cancer sucks but I plan to kick cancer's ***!

PatsMom - You sound like a tower of strength. But, here is a great place to vent if you need to. I'm a positive person and try to have a sense of humor about things (with Breast Cancer it tended to get a bit macabre :lmao:). So friends and family and even DH expected me to be positive ALL the time and if I ever hinted that I wasn't, they just couldn't handle it. So there were times when I would come here to just say that I was feeling a bit low or needed some advice on how to deal with the pressures of health issues. Everyone was so supportive. Don't be afraid to ask for that kind of emotional help here if you need it.

Thank you for your support on the Breast Cancer walk but please take care of your own health too. We want to see you posting here for many years to come!

My father had BC also.

After he was diagnosed, his doctor used some sort of new treatment that involves using the same medication that was previously used to treat tuberculosis. I don't know all the details, but the medication is apparently placed inside the bladder, and 'burns' the tumors out, so to speak.

The treatment was very successful, and he has been cancer-free for some time now.

GOOD LUCK!! :hug::hug:
