I just got the Disney visa card, and I'm wondering if there is any added value in using it to pay for the remaining balance of the cruise vs our other regular visa card that gives its own points and such.

I believe it would be interest free for six months.

Thanks, I thought that was about it, but just wanted ot make sure there wasn't anything else.

Estimate your bill. Buy the discounted Disney gift cards with your Disney visa at sams club and get 1% on the visa and the savings from sams. Then pay your bill with the gift card

Discover is 5% back this quarter at Wholesale Clubs. That would give you the discount on the gift cards, plus the 5% cash back. I still think new card holders get double cash back first year, so it would be 10%.

I know your scenario may not be the same as ours, but we upgraded to the Disney Chase Visa Premiere bc for six straight years we've been either on a DCL cruise or at the parks. So the extra $50 we pay a year more than pays for itself (we earn 2% points on gas, restaurants, grocery, and all Disney locations or purchases). So we earn enough to redeem the points for some free air travel (that we've earned points for purchasing) and for on board credits to pay our gratuities or souvenirs. YMMV of course. And we love the 6mo interest-free financing.

Thanks for all the tips guys :) I mostly got the visa card to get the initial $200 gift card when I spend $500, then I don't plan to use it a whole lot except at the parks or onboard for the 5% discount. Seems like the points aren't that great, though neither are the points on my other visa... really need to do some research sometime on how to make best use of all the different point systems.

If you have Premiere, you could buy at Sam's with the 5% off the cards, get 2% in Disney Rewards, and then put the cards on a DVA account to get another 2% per thousand dollars saved on there. It's kind of convoluted, but it adds up to 9% off your cruise.

But I agree that there are other cards out there that give you more bang for your buck, so to speak.

If your sams is considered grocery

I only get 1% at sams club despite being premier

I could be wrong, but I thought I was getting 2% on Disney gift card purchases at my Sam's. Still, 8% instead of 9% is still considerable savings. That still covers my tips, a Remy brunch and then some.

Well lucky you Every time I click on chases website on my sams purchases it shows 1% :(

I just wish the $500 Disney cards were available at the store. The availability online is spotty. When I don't need them they are available and when I want to get them they are out of stock. This having to combine 30+ $50 cards is a pain in the butt

I could totally be wrong on the Sam's thing. In fact, now you all have me second-guessing myself. I seem to remember checking when I first got the Premier card and first used it at Sam's, but that was several years ago.

Agreed on the $500 card. My local Winn-Dixie has them, but at full price. Not sure if Costco has them in-store, but we really don't have many of those around here yet. :(

We are probably going on our 4th or 5th year with the Disney Visa card and since we too vacation with Disney at least once a year - it has been a tremendous
value for us to just use the Disney Visa. We use it for everything as our primary "debit" card and pay it off every month. We have never accrued interest on it. And every year we have well over $1,000 in Disney reward points so the annual fee is nothing! In fact we used all our rewards last June at Hilton Head and already have $975 that will be accruing for our next cruse in June for on-board expenses. And as mentioned - the 6 month no interest is a nice bonus provided of course you pay it off in 6 months!

We use both the Disney Premier and the Amex Blue Cash Preferred. Amex comes out for Grocery (6% back) and Gas (3% back) and the Disney card gets the rest of the spend. I cap out the $6k grocery spend with Disney gift cards and the rewards go to Disney trips to. It does help to offset the cost of going and the annual dues for DVC.

I've been using my Disney visa to pay into a Disney vacation account. I get the 2% back (premier visa) plus for every $1000 I spend out of the DVA account I get a $20 Disney gift card. So $20 in visa rewards per $1000 plus another $20 gift card means that for every thousand I put through he DVA account I get $40 in rewards. Not a bad return rate.

The latest I heard was a 10% discount on onboard purchases if you pay your entire fare with the disney visa.

Ah, I see. Well, I'll research into stuff more next time I guess. Just had to put in final payment.
