Any alternative ways to get to Tampa airport other than renting a car?

We are flying into MCO but departing from Tampa as the flight was at a much later time and cheaper. Other than renting a car, does anyone know of any way to leave Disney property to get to TPA that is about $100 for a family of 5?

$100 is the going rate for one way between WDW and sanford airport, a distance of 30-40 miles.

Tampa is more then twice that distance. There are companies which will transport you but the cost is almost double your budget.

Hitch hiking is the only other way I can think of. Don't think it will work for 5 people.

If this is an exercise there might be bus service but that would require transportation to a bus terminal at both ends.

Curious why renting a car is out? My mom is flying into TPA airport for a trip to Sarasota. The least expensive transportation, by far, was renting a car for a day.

It's definitely not out and is probably what we'll wind up doing. I was just curious if there were any other alternatives available.

Any alternative is going to cost more then $100. There are some discounted buses. You'll have to get to the Orlando location, get from the Tampa location to the airport and hope the daily (or twice daily) time works for you. Even if you solve all those issues the cost $25-$35 per person will be over your budget.

People who can't rent a car are stuck paying around $200 one way for a car service.

Not saying this applies to you but some people book airfare into Sanford or Tampa then research ground transportation. Not generally an issue if you're planning to rent a car.
