Any advice/packing suggestions first time in travel trailer and first time at Fort

We are renting a travel trailer and golf cart from Greenburg RV Rentals for our October Disney trip. This will be our first time staying in a travel trailer and first time staying at Fort Wilderness. It will be me, DH, and 2 DD (6 and 2). Greenburg will set up and take down the travel trailer. They also include the following:
•Plates, bowls, eating utensils, and mugs
•Pots and pans
•RV tissue paper
•Dishwasher soap
•Propane
•Pillows
linens, sheets, and towels for four people

Is there anything that I may need to bring for staing in an RV that I wouldn't normally pack for staying at a Disney Hotel?

Also I would love any advice you have about staying in a travel trailer or at Fort Wilderness in general.

One of my concerns is the RV shower/bathtub. I know the hot water heater is probably small but I would like to at least wash the girls in the RV. I was thinking I could probably run a little water in the tub to wash them with and do their hair with a "navy shower." So any advice you have for making the hot water last longer will be appreciated.
We are really excited about Fort Wilderness and staying in an RV. The kids love the outdoors and I think this will be a great experience for them. We even have 1-2 days open to enjoy the Fort.

Hi Iburris,

1) bring unsalted nuts or corn for the squirrels
2) The standard water heater is 5-6 gallons. When we stayed we bathed the girls in the RV shower no problem. Used the handheld shower head to wash hair first, then bathe off afterwards. Plenty of water for them. The bathhouses are really good as well.
3) Are you cooking at the site or doing the dining plan?
4) Squirrels like Froot Loops too...
5) Depending on where at the Fort you are staying you may need to rent bikes or possibly a golfcart.
6) Take a day or two to enjoy the Fort, it really has a lot for the kids to do.
7) Squirrels like bread too...
8) Bring some Halloween decorations if you can, it is a big deal to decorate.
9) Make sure the peanuts are unsalted for the squirrels...gotta watch out for their health.

We never run out of hot water in our mh, even when we had ds with us. It reheats very fast.

You're going to have FUN! Don't forget garbage bags, flashlight, personal toiletries, paper towels. The water heater is small..prob 6 gals, but they will reheat quickly so you should not have a prob. We are two adults that can take navy showers easily with about a 30 minute wait between showers.

We use plastic store bags (walmart, etc.) as garbage bags when we camp. We like being able to just toss the bag at the end of the day.

You may also want to bring a container of Clorox wipes - I love those for wiping down the counter after meal prep.
Disposable/plastic table cloth and clips for the table.
Disposable plates/cups if you don't want to be washing dishes.
Deck of cards - always good for a rainy night!
Roll of duct tape - I swear, we don't camp without it. LOL

The aside from getting your groceries, it's just the normal stuff you'd probably bring any time you travel.

You have good advice here. I would just add that you need to be aware of the type of site you have. If it isn't a full hook-up site you may have a problem disposing of the "gray" water from the shower. Check this out in advance. You'll love the Fort, squirrels, turkeys, armadillos and other wildlife included.

It sounds like my girls will have a lot of fun "squirrel watching."
We don't have the dining plan but we do have reservations to eat dinner in the park most nights. We plan on eating the other meals at the RV to save money.
It's great to know that we should be able to bathe the girls in the RV with no problem.
I am so excited about this trip!

We often have our two teenage granddaughters that traveling with us. I do not recall a time we have ran out of hot water. TinCan is correct the water heaters have a fast recovery.
On the last trip, Glo had the squirrels eating out of her hand. We ran out of "health" food for squirrels. Glo started eating the chocolate off my peanut M&Ms,
she made a friend for life.
If you get salted peanuts, this is OK as the otters enjoy them with their lite beer.

We have rented from from Greenberg twice. Both experiences were great.
Which trailer did you request?

I brought a couple of the hanging closet organizers for the main bedroom. Other than that, I can't think of anything except extra paper towels and disinfectant wipes.

I didn't think of feeding the squirrels. Don't miss the campfire with Chip and Dale. Bring s'mores fixings and sticks or buy a kit there.

RVMH, we booked a preferred site which I think is full hookup. I had it in my mind that I wanted to be close to the marina. I don't know if its going to be worth the extra money now that we are renting a golf cart. I thought we would enjoy watching the fireworks from there most nights.

I am so glad to hear that you had a good experience with Greenburg, disnic75. I have read lots of positive reviews but was still a little nervous since it will be our first time renting an RV. We are renting the North Bay. I think the kids will love the bunkhouse and I like that the bathroom had pink Minnie decorations!

I am excited about seeing the wildlife around the fort.

The only thing we brought with us for our Greenburg rental was coffee. And the next day we had Garden Grocer deliver a case of water, some breakfast items, lunch meat and snacks. I figured I was on vacation and really didn't want to cook much so all we did was a few breakfasts and lunch a few times when we came back for an afternoon pool break. You will love renting from Matt at Greenburg, his trailers are for the most part brand new and supplied with everything you will need weather you want to cook or not. We had no problem with the hot water for showers, the recovery rate was very fast so we didn't have to rush showers.

We have not stayed in the North Bay but the bathroom is similar to the Daytona. The tub was small so it was easier for us to use the comfort station showers. It should be good for your daughters.

The mattresses in the master bedrooms are not the best but after staying at Port Orleans for our last trip I can't say Disney's are much better.

Sounds as if you're good to go ! Fireworks from the beach are good but the low ones are obscured by the trees on the old Discovery Island. To get the full effect, plan on going, at least once, to the MK or if you'd rather avoid the crowds take the boat to the CR and watch from the deck there or go to the Poly and watch from the beach. It's all good - you might even catch them from the boat and that's pretty magical !

I second the disposable plates and cups. (It is fun to buy some from the party supply section with Mickey or other characters on them. I always buy a party table cloth for our picnic table too.) We like to bring disposable coffee cups too so we can take our coffee to go on our way to the parks. I would definitely buy some tubes of glow sticks from the dollar store or the target dollar section. Flashlights for the girls. It is well lit but kids in campgrounds love flashlights! Sidewalk chalk is something I wish I had brought last time.

I didn't see if you said if you were flying or driving, but if you are driving I would also bring some folding outdoor chairs. It is nice to be able to sit and eat outside.

Last time we had a 1 year old and 3 year old. They had a blast! There is so much fun stuff to do! Enjoy your trip.

Greenberg usually provides 4 camping chairs plus cute outdoor decorations and a large rug. I brought a set of outdoor string lights that I tied to the awning support.

We have been here at the Fort since Tuesday, July 28/29??!! We are renting from Greenberg, and have been happy. We drove down, and our husbands joined us a few days later. We did bring our own towels, paper plates, cups, plastic silverware. The kitchen is stocked very nicely, lots of towels and washclothes provided, so that was not necessary. We stopped at publix to pick up the groceries, after reviewing our list of parks, meals, etc. we did bring down an easy up, and that adds to our awning space. It is incredibly humid and hot for this midwesterner! Having a great time. If I call this a complaint, the 2nd golf cart Greenberg brought us does not have lights, so therefore, limited looping. We ended up renting one from the Fort. Yes, we could have called Greenberg, and I am sure they would have brought another one, but we needed a 2nd one for the six of us. You will need a few baggies,tinfoil for the grill, a couple paper towels, but everything else is well stocked.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I am so glad to hear of everyone's positive experiences with Greenburg.
Maggie at the Fort: I love the suggestion about buying the Mickey party plates and bringing them. This will add a little disney magic to eating the food we prepare. I also will bring the girls flashlights. You are right about kids loving flashlights.
I do have another couple of questions. Can you use hairdryers/curling irons in the travel trailer or do I need to go to the bathhouse to do this? I don't want to blow a fuse.
Also, to those who have rented from Greenburg, do they give you a quick lesson on the travel trailer or is there really nothing to explain since it will already be set up?

I use a hairdryer in our popup, which has 30 amp service, and have never had a problem. I would think you'd be fine.

Also - I love the idea of Disney/Mickey plates - never even thought of that one!
