Any advice for taking DD with autism to San Diego Zoo and Sea World any advice?

My dd is 8 years old and is high functioning but has problems waiting and also walking long distances especially if she gets over heated. So anyone that has been to these places and have any suggestions for me to make it enjoyable for the entire family, I would love it.

I have not been to either (yet) but I do live in Southern California, and I will say this - it is hotter than you think. It is about 60 degrees today and I went outside without a coat (which never happened back east til it was over 75!). The sun is very strong here, and it does not take long to burn.

If she has problems with heat, you may want to consider a stroller or wheelchair, since both places are quite large with lots of walking.

Lots of water and take your time. I have not been to that seaworld but if it like orlando it is not the line issue unless you do the big rides.

One of the currators talked in depth to my DS aspergers about whale and dolphins for almost 1/2 an hour which was really special.

He is a "nature" nut anyway so seaworld is his domain.

San Diego Zoo is a crazy amount of walking plus hills hills hills. Sea World is a totally reasonable amount of walking but lots of the shows are in full sun. Have you considered Lego Land? It was also a reasonable amount of walking and very very child friendly rides. At the SD Zoo you can ride around mostly on buses and there is a bus tour but you wouldn't be able to see a lot of exhibits in depth. We went in Jan and the weather was perfection. NOt too hot or cool and just 1 rainy day out of 12.
