I am a new owner who just closed on my ownership with the the Timeshare store. Now I did get some advice on transfering from Agent at the Time share store but I know from experience that the dis boards always have a moutain of info. Is there anything I need to know to protect my self and who ever takes the transfer? I know the rules about one transfer in and out a year. I was also told I must have the money before transferring the points. Is a paypal account the best way to go ? Any info would be appreciated .

Thanks. so much

Renting the points might be a better option since you can control the deal from beginning to end. Transfer between members will work but there is lot of trust involved. Once transferred the points are gone. Getting the $$$ in advance is a risk that the buyer takes.
A rental contract, properly constructed, is great protection for you and gives the renter a lot of protection. We have used Pay Pal on one rental with someone from England and it worked out well. The rest of the time we used personal checks or in one instance a cashiers check.

Why not just bank those points and use them in the following year? Maybe I'm just dense or something, but I can never understand a brand new member renting or transferring points as soon as they become a member. Bank 'em. Use 'em.

Paypal will not provide you any protection against an unscrupulous buyer. It only protects Paypal.

Even though we are new members we bought resale with alot of banked points. I thought we use some, bank some and transfer or rent some . it seems maybe renting would be the way to go.

Keep in mind that according to the legal documents you cannot accept any money in exchange for the transfer of points. It is prohibited by the ownership documents.

I had to rent some points last year (had been banked, lost if not used) and was successful on the rent/trade board here. Go to it, take your time and read the "READ THIS" stickies at the top. Great advice, history, red flags, etc. Good Luck.

Just an FYI in case you weren't already aware, banked points cannot be transferred so any banked points you want to unload will have to go into the "rental" pile.
