I have already checked in for our two upcoming reservations. Having done it both ways in the past I haven't noticed a significant difference between them.
We have a second site for our kids for this trip that starts after we are already there and departs before we do, we would like to have them as close as possible to us if not right next door. Would the early check in improve our chances at all with the site assignments ?

I think you might want to try and link the reservations if it's still possible. You link Their reservation to YOURS and they would link your reservation to THEIRS.

There is no guarantee to any of it but if the CM's can accommodate it, they will try. Of course, you must both be in the same TYPE of site (Premium, preferred, etc... )

If you are already there, it may be helpful to take a "Walk" (or ride or whatever) to the Front desk and speak to a CM directly. I find the Personal touch tends to be better.

You can also call the front desk and make extra sure.

Have a great upcoming trip, bigdisneydaddy. Give us an update along the way if/when you can. Bama Ed

right now I am using the planning to get me through the gray winter days. After spending almost 3 months in AL and FL last winter its getting time to head South.

You can also call the front desk and make extra sure.

1) When you check-in, ask the Front Desk regarding possible nearby sites.
2) They can usually tell you 2-3 days in advance, and sometimes 4-5 days in advance (contrary to popular opinion).
3) Then, check again the day before they check-in and see if the Front Desk can help.

NOTE: The Front Desk CM has a certain amount of ability to switch around sites (and rooms at normal resorts). This is easier done at 6:05am-6:30am before too many other guests try to check-in. We switch sites and rooms daily, and the later people check-in the less chance they have for this. If you ask the day-prior, they might be able to get them close to you. But, remember, if the sites are taken, no chance. Assigning and re-assigning rooms is like a giant Rubik's Cube in trying to slot people and sites/rooms.

Thank you, I realize that keeping all this straight for a campground the size of the Fort must be a daunting task. We are just trying to improve our chances to whatever degree possible.
