Any advantage exchanging our AM vouchers this summer if not going to the parks?

I was able to exchange some AM for 4 5-day WDW tickets. We are staying at POR 2 nights in July for my youngest DD 5th birthday (she wants to stay at a hotel with a waterslide for her birthday) before heading to the beach and I was wondering if I should bring our vouchers (green plastic cards) to Disney Springs to exchange them for real tickets... We won't be going to the parks this time. In fact, I don't know when we will activate them since we don't have another trip planned...yet.

My question is, would you risk loosing your tickets/vouchers to exchange them right away or would you wait for when we will actually need them? BTW, I haven't linked those vouchers to our MDE accounts yet.

All that will happen is you will literally be exchanging the green card for another card. You still have to store that card someplace until you plan to use it. If you want to link the vouchers to MDE you can do that right now but you still need to store the green voucher to redeem later.

I know but I guess I will receive a real ticket so I won't need to carry my passport to the parks when I actually want to use them or not? Since this time we will be staying at POR, it's easy to just stop at DS guest services to exchange them vs exchanging them at GS on our first park day (I'm not a fan of carrying our passports at a theme park...).

I agree I did not like the idea of carrying my passport around the day I did the exchange but it was no big deal. So go ahead then and make the exchange this summer. It's a 6 or one half dozen of another situation. If you have concerns about losing the tickets just take a picture of the numbers on the back. They can be retrieved that way.

I was planning on doing this as well so that we have tickets in hand for a future trip without having to first stop and exchange them. My only concern is: will the tickets that get issued have expiry dates on them given that they would now be regular tickets and not the Canadian deal vouchers that don't expire?

I think it is a good idea, because one of the condition is you have to present the original credit card used in that purchase if it was booked online or on phone. Very few people will keep the same credit card around after 5 to 10 years later... So I would trust the actual tickets more than a "redemption promise".

The problem is, what if you are going to the parks already in that same trip using other sets of tickets? Will they mix up and activate your future tickets prematurely? Will the CM separate them so the new linked tickets don't get used by accident?

I was wondering the same thing. Since I don't want to link them to MDE right away, there would be no way to know for sure what is the expiration date...

Except that my tickets are from AM so no credit was used to 'purchase' them. I know that GS can prioritize tickets but it has to be done in person. To be sure, I would keep them unlinked to MDE...

I exchanged tickets in May. Yes I was asked for all passports but no one asked to see my CC so I don't think the CC will be an issue. We did the exchange at a ticket booth mid-afternoon. I had a quick look over at GS and the line over there looked to be way too long.
