Any adoptive families going to be in WDW 4/25-5/3???

My girls are Holt babies, too. Are you going to the dinner auction on 4/5? I am part of a huge play group. We travel up North to Chester all the way down south to the Cape May Zoo. We have an up coming family get together for 3/22. PM me if you are interested. Our girls are 2 and 4.

We an adoptive family thru domestic adoption our DD is 7, we're now looking into China, just hate to be away for that long!

Wow! I have to say I am a litttle suprised about all the adoptive families here. We are currently working on adopting. We have 2 little boys that are in foster care with us until the birth mom relinquishes or gets terminated. (We are actually going to court for that on the 18th if she doesn't relinquish first!) We are hoping to be able to take our first family trip 5/16-5/26! I agree that there should be a special celebration of adoption at Disney! It eould be a great opportunity!

Our beautiful baby boy arrived from Korea on Feb 20, 2003 from Seoul. When we bring him to WDW he will be 7 months old. We have gone so many times, our first together 20 years ago for our honeymoon. This time we are doing the baby tour and we are so excited! We are staying at BCV from 5/11-5/15, Fort Wilderness cabins the 16 and 17 and going home to Western Mass via Hartford on the 18th. We are a Holt family through Wide Horizons.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho a baby's life for me!

Kathy---Sounds like we have a lot in common. My husband Mike and I also went to Disney on our honeymoon, and I don't think we've missed a year yet. David is 4 (and a half, actually, on 4/5) and this will be his 5th trip. We were just there in December, and we're going back to celebrate his 5th birthday (11/5). We're DVC members, and bought annual passes that we'll be activating on our trip in April.

Lisa: Unfortunately, no, we're not going to the auction this year, but we have every other year, and I'm sorry to be missing it. We have a regular table we sit with. We're spending 3 days at Disney's Vero Beach to warm up from this awful winter we're having, before we hit Disney World.

Are you by any chance active on the AOL Korean Adoption Forum?

Ruth

I'm new here, but have been reading a lot.

We'll be at the Swan from 5/1-5/6.

Our 3 1/2 yr old DD is from China through Holt. We belong to FWCC and I recall getting an e-mail a while ago (probably last year) that an adoption group was going to Disney and had gotten a special rate at one of the All-Stars. If there's enough interest in an adoptive families gathering I bet Disney would give a good rate again, especially if it's off season.

Anyway, we'd love to try to meet up with other adoptive families while we're there.

I'm not an adpotive parent but my sister and B-I-L have two little boys they adpoted for Vietnam. They are 4 and 7 now and are both great kids!!

They traveled to Vietnam both times to pick up their babies that was an expierence in itself!!!

When they came home with Joey now 7 (he was 9months) we were all at Ohare in CHicago to welcome them all home and while we were a=waiting for thir plane this one lady said if this is what I think it is Im going to cry!! and she did have tears in her eyes.

Its just so great that all of you gave homes to these little babies and/or kids that otherwise wouldn't have a chance at life.

My heart goes out to all of you:D

Now I need to dry my eyes!

Like Annie we're just starting waiting paperwork to start *sigh* Best of luck Annie!!!!

Being that Disney is my absolute fave subject and always on my mind this topic crossed my thoughts the other day and how wonderful it would be to someday meet other families during our future trip with our future little one. I'm so happy to see others doing it and hope you all have a blast!!!

So is this the first time for your little ones? I was thinking that one of the 1st things we'll do on that future trip is to have a private photo session over at DownTown Disney with the big cheese ;) Thought it would be a nice, quiet introduction to such bigger then life characters for any child. Think I just read somewhere around here it was like $25.

Have fun!!!!

We are also DVC, first at BWV then added VWL since 98. We loved it without children but brought other families with us with children. We are also doing the annual passes for the first time. We plan on taking a series of photos over time of the baby on the high back yellow striped couch in the entry to BWV. We've already got the "before" photo. I can't wait to take the first installment. Perhaps we should take it on Mother's Day. Now that would be a part on our Disney magic. BTW our baby was born on the day we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary at WDW. WE even saved our anniverasry dinner for the top of the Contemporary. Again just the magic. ANd we got The Call on Valentine's Day that he was coming home on the following Thursday. The magic continues......

Congratulations on your first Mother's Day, Kathy! It'll be incredible! I know after many years of visiting WDW and having my eyes tear up watching other families with children, mine now fill up with tears and my heart fills with happiness watching my own two having magical moments.

BTW, my children were 6-7 months old when they first visited WDW. During our first visit with my daughter, who's the oldest, an older couple approached us, the woman with tears in her eyes. Turns out she was an adoptive mom, and 18 years before, she had been in my shoes. 18 wonderful years, as she put it, with her adoptive daughter from Korea! It was their first trip to WDW without her. I really can't capture with words just how moving and poignant that moment was, almost like a torch was passed.

I hope you are blessed with many magical moments!:D

Thanks Mulansmom. I will truly have a great time with my boys, dh and ds. I so loved your story about the passing of the torch. I know we are but a link in family histories. I am so lucky to have the opportunity to parent a child and especially the child asleep upstairs in the crib that my 4 nephews each have also slept for the last 17 years.

Thanks for your response,
Kathy;)
