I started a new medicine (Lexapro) for anxiety/depression last Saturday and have the side effect of ringing in my ear. It is driving me up a wall!!!

Has anyone else dealt with this? Does it go away???

My dr. said to try for a few more days but it sure makes getting to sleep extremely difficult. I have to admit, it has only been 1 week - but it is annoying!!!
Does it ever go away? I am ok when I have background noise, but when it is quiet - like at bedtime it is really distracting.

I am somewhat limited in what medicine I can take because I still nurse my daughter.
Thanks!

I started taking Lexapro (10mg) a day back in June. The first few weeks I had some weird symptoms (nausea, tired) but not ringing in the ear. I had gotten used to the medicine at around the 3 week mark.

Maybe you can take the meds right at bedtime? Is the ringing constant or just soon after you take the pill?

I have not taken Lexapro but I do have ringing in my ears and it is very annoying isn't it? The only thing I can do is have some white noise in the background at all times. You could try having a small fan just for the sound or one of those ocean wave sound cd's. Just something to cancel out the ringing in your ears.

Hope it goes away for you!

I don't know why I have not seen this thread and replied.
You may want to make sure your blood pressure is'nt spiking when your ears ring like that.
