Anxiety Levels Rising

I think we just need to start to take it all in our stride and once we are there, we will have an absolute ball, whether we got the reservations or not.
Yes I totally agree that we’ve been through enough (262 day in lock down Melbourne) and it’s time we just go for it and take a chance but yes stress levels are taking a beating. Fingers crossed we won’t have to test. I agree with the website for testing at the airport, it was useless for information. I’ll make sure to do the travel PCR closer to home and have it done in time and not have to add to to stress about getting to the airport and testing there.
P.S I’ve currently been on hold for over 2 hours with Qantas. It’s going to be a long day 😭
Oh no that's ridiculous. The biggest issue is that Qantas need the negative Covid test result no longer than 24 hours before departure to travel to America and I don't know of any clinics in Melbourne that can do that quick a turn around, that is why I am thinking of getting it done at the airport. From what I understand I think they do a Rapid Test (RAT) which if it is done under clinical supervision I believe is fine, they give you some sort of official document to produce prior to boarding. I don't think they do PCR's because how can they get the result quickly enough for you to be able to board your aircraft. It is all so confusing.

lol after 4 hours on hold with Qantas, I was disconnected 😡. Up go the stress levels again 😂
Google Covid Travel Clinical labs, they do the travel tests with the correct forms etc.

Thanks so much for that, I will look into it. Can't believe the Qantas fiasco, feel so sorry for you. Hope you have success soon. You will definitely need a holiday after all this.

Wait, so the airline is imposing it even though the USA don't require it?

Is it possible to cancel your flight and book through another airline to save yourself the stress? Pretty sure United don't require it.

There is a lot of negativity on this board and others. Tune it out. People can complain about anything. Going to Disney is not a race and you don't have to have the perfect reservations to have a good time. You can skip lightning lane and genie plus if you want too. Just being at Disneyland resort, even if you didn't go on rides is fun. The atmosphere is fun. Just go have fun and don't worry about anything :). I recommend looking for the cool/ fun snacks available ahead of time and you can grab one before a long line (or a drink at CA adventure).

Also, I did CA adventure yesterday with no reservations, no lightning lane, no genie plus. I had a blast. If I was going on a busy day I might use them but you certainly don't have too.

Unfortunately it is a requirement of the US government. You must have proof of a 2 dose valid vaccination and show a certificate that you have returned a negative Covid test no more than 24 hours before boarding your flight. Then it is the same for us returning to Australia. The time frame used to be a negative test result within 3 days of travel but since the new Omicron variant they have changed it to 1 day. It certainly makes it challenging to travel but I understand why.

I second this. My anxiety really just centers on potentially having to cancel AGAIN for the third time. If we can just GET THERE, that's 99% of the battle! You have to kinda go with the flow at DL anyway. As long as you're prepared, you'll be fine.

I've already had a couple of problems to deal with:

My daughter has an injury that will likely require a wheelchair rental. A major inconvenience, but not a show stopper.

We are from Canada and need to test to get home, with a 10-day wait if you test positive. So I had to change our plans to work around that possibility. Major anxiety about that - but since I've now prepared for the worst case scenario, all is good.

So, hopefully we can all just get there! And let's not worry about getting back home... there should be a brain-wipe of our return trip until that day comes! Lol

Thanks for your input. I like to think that even though my daughter and I suffer anxiety we are still both upbeat people who love to have a laugh and enjoy each others company enormously so you are right we will have a good time no matter what. After all a holiday is what you make of it.

I feel your pain. My daughter and I love to travel and over the last two years I have booked three trips, one to the red centre of Australia (had to cancel all internal borders within Australia closed), two to New Zealand (we had a small window where we had a travel bubble with our neighbour and then it closed before we could travel) and now this trip which I am holding my breath over and hoping with all my heart that we get to take. I guess that is why I want it to be the perfect trip but I know I just have to remember how lucky I am to be travelling at all and put it all into perspective with all the other horrid stuff that is happening in the world at the moment. Lets hope we can all just travel safe and have a healthy and happy holiday.

OP: I certainly understand your anxiety, especially coming from such a long way.
OMI, but if I was stressed out over an upcoming vacation with lots of negative reviews, I would think twice about spending all that money on it.
It's a personal choice, and I certainly can't make it for you. It's just my opinion. I want a stress free relaxing vacation, not one that makes me stressed out and wondering how it will go.
If you do decide to go, I hope you have a wonderful time:)

We’re from Adelaide and are going late Sept, hopefully the US won’t require testing by then. The UK dropped it. That’s the only thing that’s really bothering me, I can deal with the rest. Reservations are probably the other thing but three months out you seem to be fine.

We have a stay of eight days booked. I found the reservation system really easy to use. I needed to change one reservation just recently and I was really worried that things would go wrong but I had no issues at all. I cancelled the one I didn't want and I was immediately able to book the other park with the system working flawlessly. Restaurant booking for us Aussies is impossible as you need to be up at 1:00am to have even the slightest hope of getting what you want but I have decided that this trip we are just going to eat quick service and hope that perhaps the day before we visit each park we might be able to pick up something from cancellations.

I’ve noticed the day before quite a few open up but yeah they go pretty quickly when first released. We want to do Plaza Inn for breakfast and Goofy’s Kitchen for dinner, the latter doesn’t seem to be a problem.
